Agree with all of that and our failings away to the big teams really needs to be addressed.

So , if Arsenal win the cup and Liverpool get top four you would agree both have improved/done well this season?

With all the Arsenal fans on here tonight, have you considered with this being World Cup summer (as if we didn't know) and if certain countries fail to live up to expectations, France perhaps, there could be a few national managers out of jobs come the end of summer. Is it possible that Wenger might consider taking over a national team, such as France, as a final job before retirement?

Yup. I think both have got something which they've needed. Arsenal need a trophy to stop people going on about how long it's been and how they bottle it etc.

We need CL to get our foot back in the door.

Both will give each team a lot more confidence for the following season when it comes to the league and relevant cups.

Are Arsenal finishing 4th in this scenario, or 5th?

He's had the opportunity several times before to go and manage other teams including national rather than club and hasn't so far. But who knows, before retirement he might like the more part time nature of a national job.

Wenger has turned down Real Madrid & PSG amongst others numerous times to stay at Arsenal so I don't think he'd leave now? I think he'll want another league title or possibly a champions league trophy before he leaves.

With a contract up at the end of this season and people starting to question him, he may feel the time is better to leave now than before when the fans were 100% behind him and he was still challenging for honours.

Personally I think he'll sign a new two year contract and inform the club he'll be leaving at the end of it to retire.

But in football you never know where people will ultimately end up!

Monsieur Wenger said top 4 is as much a trophy as any, but its only a cash cow until your club actually win the CL, the Arsenal fans lapped Wenger's words up and were content with being the perennial bridesmaids every season, we on the other hand have won it plus a domestic trophy since Wenger's last trophy win.<whistle>

Other than being a major cash cow which is necessary for most clubs to compete consistently at the top. It's also an amazing competition. I love our champions league fixtures each season even when we don't progress. Cl nights are my favourites of the season, watching my team against the best Europe has to offer, great stuff.

As much as I'd love to win it I do appreciate always being in it.

Think in the past though those offers have come at times when his Arsenal future has always been certain he was staying. This time the offer could come with his future being less certain, even if France do reasonably well, Deschamps could be looking to go back to Club football, French job might be open.
Things could all just fall right this summer. Arsenal might want a change, Wenger might look to do something different and fans support has significantly dropped in recent years.

Neither of those is going to happen anytime soon though. If he hangs on waiting for them could all go wrong and tarnish is reputation for hanging on and on.
