Ultimately that's what it's all about. Been looking forward to tomorrow for 40 odd years. I would have done whatever it takes to get there tomorrow. Sold stuff on ebay, borrowed off a mate or relative etc I thought we could do it when we got that draw at Brighton and we knew it would be Sunderland at home in the 1/4s. BHA & SAFC committed to getting in play offs & League Cup respectively. It's not like this game has suddenly appeared out the woodwork. Cheapest ticket tomorrow is £ 30. Most coaches are around £ 30. Spread that over several weeks- job done. I ask again : where are the missing 13,000 ?
I started to reply to this, but why should I have to justify myself to someone on the internet. You believe what you want.
It's embarrassing for our club as a whole. People's individual circumstances are nobody's business but their own.
I think you'll find Ben Supersonic Stewey is a single man in his 50's. Therefore he has never had to go through the hard times as a couple or a coupel with kids and being out of work. Be easy on him its a totally alien concept to have to balance your own wants and needs with that of your family. Saying that he definitely hasnt been to all the away games this season so.......
Then why question them? You're original post, that I questioned, suggested the excuse of it being too expensive was embarrassing. For me, it's the most valid excuse there is.
“I know there’s a few tickets left and I can understand how difficult it is for people to make this trip,” added Bruce. “But for the thousands that are going, I’m delighted for them. It’s been tough in Hull over the last few years with unemployment levels high and it takes a lot for many just to spend on a ticket for a Saturday, let alone trying to make a weekend out of it this time round." I'd guess (as you are) that for many it was. I'd also suggest there are many more now than there were then who cannot afford it. Wembley, 2008 we took 20000ish extra supporters than we were attracting to the KC. Many of these will have been one off day trippers who haven't been since. Maybe your finger should be pointing at the lack of day trippers who have chosen not to take the trip this time around rather than proper City supporters who are honest enough to admit the cost of the trip goes beyond their reach.
I think there some irony that some people complain about plastic fans, yet complain when can't sell out full our allocation.
I'm sure there are people who just as in 2008 were too skint to go. I'm sure there are 2008 day trippers who for whatever reason are not fussed about this one. Sheff Utd have been on the Semi Final 3 times since 1993 - this is their 4th. They were last at Wembley in 2011. We've had one Semi Final in 1930. They sold 32K quickly and in a city with a similar economic profile. I don't buy this 'saving myself for the Final' crap.
My view is that we've probably hit ticket sales that would match our core support. The club have done very little in encouraging the day trippers to attend. The day trippers, IMO. would not be interested in a semi final anyway although they'll probably be interested in a final. This doesn't make them plastic as they're not City supporters, they're day trippers. What's embarrassing is that in 2008 there were supporters from Hull who didn't support City, there was thousands of Hull Whites, Reds & Scousers. I don't see the problem in them not attending tomorrow. I'd rather have a core support of City. Suggesting people finding the trip too expensive as not a valid excuse is poor form. The missing masses of support tomorrow compared to 2008 won't be found on here. If you feel the need to ridicule them you've more chance of finding them on the Leeds, United & Scouse boards.
Where have I ridiculed those who (genuinely) can't afford to go? I have just labelled as 'embarrassing' the overall situation and the large number of people who are finding 'reasons' not to attend. Reasons that Sheffield United (who have double their average gate attending tomorrow) don't seem to have despite their regular Wembley attendances. Let's hope all those attending are core fans and they support accordingly. The conclusion is that our plastics and day trippers are more fickle than Sheffield's.
I'll be quick I'm off to kip. I suggested you ridicule the Hull Whites, Reds & Scousers on their relevant boards. I didn't say you ridiculed people who couldn't afford the trip. You did post this though. "This 'too expensive' excuse is embarrassing" which is poor form.
