I'm watching Burnley v Middlesborough, HT 0-0, with Boro playing well, especially Ledesma who has been putting in some very good crosses - Heaton making some good saves. Derby v Huddersfield HT 1-1, Huddersfield had taken the lead, but had a man sent off for a 2nd yellow at the end of the half. Spurs are having a real mare at WBA, 3-1 down at HT - they got a lucky og and Adebayor missed a penalty after an obvious dive by Danny Rose. You wonder if they can't turn this game around in the 2nd half if Tim Sherwood will see out the season in charge.
Mixed feelings today as ex-wife from boro and her family support them so always enjoy them losing.... but hey if this means Burnley go on a losing streak so be it...
Right now for the playoff spots, ourselves and Wigan are the meat in a Derby/Brighton et al sandwich! Huddersfield down to 9 men!
I'm taking more interest in who finishes 6th and possible play-off opponents (be it semi's or final). Brighton, Ipswich, Reading, Blackburn, Bournmouth and Watford all fighting for the last spot. In our last 2 seasons (in recent championship or premiership) we've.... beaten Ipswich all 4 times, drawn 3 times and lost once to Reading, A win, draw, defeat to Watford, a draw and defeat to Brighton, (this season) 2 draws and 2 defeats to Blackburn (2 games in premiership), A win and defeat to bournmouth (this season). The other 2 teams....Wigan we have 1 win and 3 draws (2 games in premiership) and Derby...1 win, 2 draws, 1 defeat. Form can disappear in the playoffs but I still think we'd have the upper hand over Ipswich (my preference).
Sunderland concede an unlucky Wes Brown og home to Everton. They have a couple of games in hand but are firmly planted on the bottom of the table. WBA 3 Spurs 2 (Harry Kane)
Sunderland have scored 6 own goals now this season. When they played us they kept getting players sent off (2 in the 1-0 win for us, and 1 in the 2-0 win). Ahead of the Cup game (no red cards and a 3-0 win for us ) they kept telling us it would be a different game 11 vs 11, I didn't realise they meant because they'd be the ones scoring the goals that beat them rather than us having to do it. EDIT: one of their games in hand is Man City away (which they play this week, and their ordinary game next weekend is Chelsea away. Just to further annoy their fans, it was due to be played next Sunday afternoon, but got moved yesterday to the Saturday night (our game vs Arsenal got the reverse swap on that)
Plucky defending from Middlesborough to beat Burnley 1-0. Well done Shaun Derry in his efforts to keep Notts County up - they beat Port Vale 4-2 at home after being 2-0 down.
I watched the fulham norwich game, norwich had 3 great chances but couldnt score and then a bad fulham side got the lead and norwich fell to bits. They have a £9m player whos score once and only had 7 shots on target all season, hopefully MOTD will show what he did today as it was hilarious. It just shows how crap the SPL is, Hooper got 30 goals every season but hasnt score in 16 for norwich. Fulham have hull and palace at home while norwich have the scum, citeh, liverpool and man u so thats 3 points max. Fulham will probably escape sending the yellow streaks of piss down.
Such a shame when Burnley finally hit their blip we were unable to take advantage. Good luck Shaun Derry my lord.
Cheers Gloucester. As you say it is only Ipswich out of those we have a positive statistic against. If we want to meet them then we have to finish third. Up until today Forest was the one team I didn't want to play in the playoffs because of our record against them. Now Wigan is THE side to avoid imo. But if they are to beat Arsenal today they will have to play the FA Cup final 5 or 6 days after the second leg in the playoffs which might not be such a bad thing.
I think we'll finish 4th mate which means we'll play 5th which will probably be Wigan. Wigan have just taken the lead against Arsenal!!!!!!
1-0 Wigan! Love it! Take a bow Uwe Rosler, maybe the most attractive manager out there for us to succeed Harry whenever the time is right.
I really do hope the trolley boys (Reading) drop out of playoffs being they are my local team! At the time of writing this I'm not sure what the latest is table wise but they have really poor home form and seem to be picking up the points away.
