Barclays Premier League Venue: St Mary's StadiumDate: Saturday, 12 April Southampton will assess the fitness of Gaston Ramirez and Artur Boruc, who both missed the last game because of respective ankle and back injuries. Jay Rodriguez faces a six-month lay-off with a ruptured cruciate ligament, while Maya Yoshida remains out. Cardiff winger Craig Noone has been ruled out for the rest of the season with an abdominal injury. Kenwyne Jones, Declan John and Ben Turner are major doubts, while Craig Bellamy is also a minor concern. Cardiff City are running out of opportunities to salvage their Premier League status ahead of an away game at Southampton on Saturday. Last month's 3-1 win over fellow strugglers Fulham represents the only victory in 10 games for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side, who have lost three of their last four and suffered a damaging 3-0 home reverse to Crystal Palace last time out. As a result, the Welsh team lie second-bottom of the table and six points from safety with five matches remaining. The two teams immediately above Cardiff - Fulham and Norwich City - square off in a vital clash this weekend, meaning Solskjaer's men stand to enjoy full value from a victory on the south coast, with the prospect of their nearest rivals taking points off one another. However, that looks a tall order against a Southampton side playing with a freedom allowed by a league position of eighth, and Solskjaer will have to cope without winger Craig Noone. The 26-year-old was injured against Palace and is not expected to feature again this season. _______________ Sorry its not more lads frankly, I couldn't be arsed
Cardiff winger Craig Noone has been ruled out for the rest of the season with an abdominal injury. Kenwyne Jones, Declan John and Ben Turner are major doubts, while Craig Bellamy is also a minor concern. Not surprised after that little lot Jay. If KWJ and Bellers are absent it is tailor made for a return for Joe Mason. However, I think I will have to hide behind the door if I listen to the game.
The only word I am looking for is pride. Nobody expects us to get anything from Southampton, so in that regard the pressure is off. And to a large extent the club and the fans will, deep down, have a very good idea where this season is going to end up. So, all the above said, I expect the pressure to be somewhat released today and the players to put in a performance worthy of the club they are representing. I am past caring about results as, to paraphrase from my earlier posts, it would take a turnaround of astronomic proportions for this season to finish with a positive outcome. So all I really care about is a performance with pride, unity and spirit that gives some positive indications for the future.
Well today is the day to show some guts like palace did against chelsea and you did earlier in the season against Man city. It's the stage now of last chance saloon where the pressure will be on popbank because you need that pressure to win, You have a chance so you should not give up yet and if you look at past seasons then this stage of the season always throws up some unexpected results. I will be rooting for you boys today in the hope you can keep your survival going, Good luck..
Joe Mason set to return from Bolton loan By Michael Morris Updated Friday, 11th April 2014 The City striker has scored six goals in his time at The Reebok. Mason's loan spell at Bolton Wanderers is due to end after this weekends game against Barnsley. The 22 year old has been a success at Bolton and they will be sad to see him leave after he scored in both of Bolton's last two matches and scored six goals overall in two loan spells covering 12 starts. âJoe has done a good job for the team and we would have loved him to stay,â says Boltonâs assistant manager and former Cardiff team boss Lennie Lawrence. Mason cannot play for City this season as he was not named in the 25 man Premier league squad in January but he still has two years to run on his current contract.
