Cahill is a far better player imo.

Jones atm it too hot headed and makes a hell of a lot of mistakes. Great potential and has had some excellent performances but he has been equally dire at times too.

Maybe if he concentrates on defending instead of pulling panto faces he may become a legend.

Two young defenders who moved to better teams, Cahill was just for contrast given the similarities.

Now that this explains why you care<whistle>

Jones just needs to play centre back. Give him a full season at cb and see what peoples opinions are then.

  7. TBF Carragher looked poor when he first got in the side (IMO) but turned out quite well. Jones is just a bit older and should be making strides by now.

Tbf he plays in 14 different positions a halg.

Play hin at cb and watch him thrive. Those faces will come in handy as a centre back.

Aye, but Jones is only 22 - Carragher was 24 before he started playing regularly at CB, and it still took him a good few months to bed in.

Pointless thread anyway - CB is one of those positions where a 22 year old, no matter how much potential they have, is almost never going to be better than a 29 year old with years of experience in the game. It won't be possible to judge Jones until he's had a good run in the team - Carragher, Terry, Rio and pretty much all other top CBs didn't really start performing until they hit mid 20s and had a good run in the middle.
