Not going to lie bors, I'm getting bloody nervous. Writing this on my third trip to freshen up this morning... This is huge. Much bigger than West Brom at home last season. I really hope we are hours away from just about confirming an historic fourth season in the Premier League. A novice manager, but a refreshing change to a crumbling team. I.A.W.T.
Yep, super nervous about today, it's massive. I don't really care how we play, we have to at the very least avoid defeat. Anything more than that seems too much to hope for really, I can't say I'm feeling confident!
I can't remember ever feeling as apprehensive as this about a game of football. I have no idea what to expect.
Chris Goreham tweeted last night that Josh Murphy didn't play for the under 21s yesterday. Read into that what you will, but he had a good game (and the assist) in our 1 - 1 F A cup draw with Fulham before xmas. Murph and Redmond on the wings, anyone?
But when the blast of the referee's whistle blows in our ears, Then imitate the action of the tiger; Stiffen the sinews, summon up the blood. And let's vanquish the ghost of failures past!
Didn't Hughton try playing Murphy, Redmond and Snodgrass behind RvW in the cup game at the Cottage? That didn't go so well...
I have the fridge stocked up with beer for tonight, as I suspect it might be the only way of getting through the game. It's a horrible feeling.
Everyone will be pleased to know that no fourth trip has yet been needed. I thought Murphy Redmond and Snodgrass behind RvW only happened in the second half (where we were actually better)? If we're playing those four, I'd prefer a 4-3-3 with Snodders in midfield with Howson and Tettey
Any open, attacking formation that gets mentioned immediately terrifies me. WHAT HAS CHRIS HUGHTON DONE TO ME?!
Usually cautious but confident about our chances, on this occasion I'd be lying if I said I wasn't nervous and afraid. I've never seen us beat Fulham they always seem to get the better of us even when they've had a nightmare season. If I had a sniper rifle I'd be waiting in a tree opposite Steve Sidwell's house, he always seems to have a good game against us. The worst thing is seeing Norwich fan's on Facebook do the usual 'Oh we'll easily beat them 3-0' they obviously don't pay attention to details. As for the team lineup I really hope he doesn't play Murphy his a great prospect for the future but needs a season of first team football on loan somewhere.
For me the damage has already been done. I cannot see us wining any more games for the rest of the season, maybe the odd point or two.Resigned to Championship football next season. We do not have the players with enough quality or the mind set to beat Fulham today. Last week I saw a team that is likely to go down IMO. That is the reality for me. Of course I do not want that to happen from my heart but the head says otherwise. Focus on inverted wingers, poor tactics, clueless substitutions, defensive mind set, poor purchases and lack of quality has done for us. As a side note, I have been in Amsterdam this week and was talking to Ajax fans about Wolfswinkel. Interesting that there view of him was not bad or good. The word mediocre at best was used. Should have gone for Bony in hindsight , which is always a wonderful thing. I just want next season to begin with a clear re building and vision. Not convinced Adams should be in charge but we should go for a more experienced person at the helm. At least we will have something to play for rather than just hoping to survive.
It's a typical safe and unambitious appointment that I associate with Norwich, which will have the ape's drooling 'Oh it's ex player!' 'His heart bleeds Green and Yella!' 'Where's Malky and Phelen!'. It appears to me that McNally never actually had a plan b or the person he want's is tied up in a contract e.g. Lennon. I would rather see us get in Biesla but I can't see us competing with Marseille.
I've had this thought before, I think if we'd signed Bony and RvW gone to Swansea then we'd be doing better and RvW would be the one getting rave reviews. The shift in style from Holt to Bony would have been easier to make than Holt to RvW.
I don't think that's plausible. We never would have got Bony because he wanted European experience and was the price of Hooper/RvW combined.
Yeah, it's pure speculation, we could never have paid that fee. And I suppose saying we'd be doing better if we'd spent an extra £5m on a single player is a bit of a no brainer.
I don't know whether I want to hide and avoid the results or be brave and watch the game lol. My gut feeling is that we will lose, but I've been known to be wrong on many occasions.
I'm going to wear my special match day socks and pants, that should do the trick. And drink 10 pints of broadside, then I won't know what's going on, or even what day it is. I've already fell out with the wife today, so that's one good sign.
I'm following a similar plan, loads of beer, in my case I've gone for 5% Ruddles, if I get pissed enough we will gain extra players, that's got to help!
