If they lose this weekend, the easiest games between now and the end of the season for them to keep themselves out of the drop zone will be against Arsenal and Man Utd. I don't think it really matters how many years they've been in the top flight since 1945 if next season they're in the Championship and we're not.

Yeah, not like the club has been selling a load of Brucie themed tat to fans for this weekend or anything.

So he 'dreams of landing a top job'. Good for him. The timing seems a little odd though.

A ploy to get a better contract this summer? I doubt it. Perhaps he fancies something other than a survival battle next season. If he gets a call from Newcastle he'll on his way home. In to 20/1 with Paddy Power to do just that. Don't worry, these odds mean nothing at this stage.

Erm, yes it does if we're talking about who is 'bigger'. If Bournemouth come up through the play-offs and Norwich go down, does that make the former a 'bigger club'? People really do get carried away with thinking how big we are - we've had 3 seasons in the top flight in our historuy and can't even sell out our second ever appearance at Wembley. That's really brought it home to me and Norwich are a much bigger club.

Sadly, I've come to realise we really are pretty small fry.

was it an off the cuff comment or did he say it explicitly?

From the hint given by The Omega Man I would say it all depends upon how "cheap" we got him initially, how much Assem Allam thinks he's worth now and how much Steve Bruce thinks he's worth now. The bigger the gap between these figures the more likely he is to go.

Come on chaps - he was asked a question and answered it honestly. What manager wouldn't go if a top 6 club offered him the job? I'd rather have a manager who gives honest answers rather than some of the evasive twaddle we often hear these days.

I think most managers are going to try and talk their stock value up if asked, and SB is no different. He is going to hopefully negotiate a new contract this summer, so why not throw in the idea that he is no adverse to taking another job, it won't do his negotiations any harm. He will always have in the back of his mind the Sunderland situation, so will think twice about jumping ship, particularly as he knows he is well liked and respected with us.

I think he is just showing ambition rather than saying I want out of Hull City and in to something better. I'm sure any other manager outside of the top six has similar ambitions. Go to the BBC website and watch his interview for Football Focus BBC World News. He comes across very well.

Surely Steve Bruce is simply saying, "I have just about delivered a second season in the PL and at least one Wembley appearance, time to think about offering me a new deal to stay on".

Has the club made up its mind as far as its spend for next season and beyond. The statements by Ehab indicate that they have.

If we stay up and have European football next season will there be money to strengthen?

I would not be surprised if we only make a deal for Livermore and any other movement will dependant on who we ship out. No war chest just make do and mend. would Steve Bruce be happy with that.

I'd be more concerned if Steve Bruce showed a lack of drive or ambition.

He's delivered above expectations since the day he came in, so he needs rewarding above the normal levels.

We have a really class manager on our hands, and we need to ensure he stays.

I, for one, believe he will put up with the name change nonsense for another couple of seasons if he is paid handsomely enough by the owners.

We need to make him feel wanted. It is essential.

were midtable at the mo, and this is a fantasic season, hopefully SB can turn us into a top 6 team, and he won't want to go anywhere.

nothing wrong with anyone having a bit of ambition. Do you remember in PL season 1 Brownies BBC TV interview saying he wanted to manage England one day just proving he had ambitions. But realistically I think only the Newcastle job would be a threat to us providing the Allams keep well him provided contract wise.

Other than Newcastle or Southampton the best he can hope for is taking us higher.
