Reading what Vital Leeds fans are saying it looks as though they are selling their best players. The fans are really concerned by this turn of events and worry whether they will be having a battle against relegation. Maybe we aren't as badly off as we think.
Utter rubbish. We've let two average midfielders leave because they need replacing and now we're selling an average goalkeeper because he can be improved on. Leeds fans are genetically built to worry, I wouldn't read too much into what people are spewing on Vital Leeds.
We became confident towards the end of last season, but some are beginning to twitch. Saints fans are known to be worry worts as well.
I've heard a few rumours about Woodgate, Smith and Bowyer being linked with Leeds. Wages could be an issue and medicals would be in order for Smith and Woodgate. Doesn't sound like a crisis at Leeds to me..
Never go back would be my advice to Leeds Woodgate and Smith play limited amount of games these days Bowyer could still be useful but all three would be expensive additions for limited impact in return .Better to find young er and ambitious talent who are fit and wanting to play every game rather than burnt out oldies
Yes, started off the season great but then by the end of it, he became more erratic, cost us a fair few points and was generally about average Championship ability in my opinion. I think if he moves away from Leeds and gets better coaching elsewhere, he'll turn into a good player, but Elland Road's obviously just not the right place for him. We can do better. Not worth worrying until a week before the season, I say. I've been on a couple of other Leeds forums and it's pandemonium, people saying the club will get relegated and Bates is asset stripping. It's a load of nonsense. I hate Ken Bates but I'm reserving my judgement until I actually see who's brought in. Southampton have in my opinion the best manager outside the Premiership and obviously a very generous chairman; I'd certainly be happy to switch setups with you! Agreed, time to look forward rather than back. I do think we could do with some experience in midfield and defense, but I'd like to see that mixed with some young talent too like Jack Cork.
Maybe not but they are our first game back in the Championship. If you tour the Saints boards you will see many posters querying our squad strength and prospects without seeing new faces. Leeds are no different to us in that we are both reasonable sized clubs with high fan expectations. The more we demand from our team the more the failure hurts. I still think that we will be safely mid-table looking up and also expect Leeds to be in the mix at the end of the season. I find it relevant to know what all of the competition is doing as it always has some effect on how we are doing.
For the size of the town Leeds average attendance is pretty poor. But I suppose most of em are out walking Whippets or Training Kestrels on a Saturday.
I would imagine it'll be because of high season ticket prices and a certain Ken Bates, but you carry on with the old stereotypes.
tbf he has a point, leeds has a city with 3x as many people as we do in southampton, you would have thought they could fill a 40k stadium.
Well Ken Bates is not popular but he is trying to keep the ship on an even keel. We are on the up and will hopefully be spending on a few hand picked quality players in the near future. Still wouldn't mind Kisnorbo(?) from them though.
Are there any players in the Championship that we could grab from cash strapped clubs? We hear about the lack of money and I am wondering whether we are waiting purposefully before bidding for a player hoping that the price could drop.
