    Surly drop Jonas before Barton?

  3. Then who would we play left wing? Don't say Ben Arfa because he's not a LW

If we needed to play Ben Arfa on the left we could ...

  5. Nah, he's better in the CAM position. His crossing isn't that great from what i've seen tbh, he;s better running in the center and slotting through players.

Barton is the best centre mid we have had for a long long time. He is comfortable on the ball and can cross, pass and shoot as well as having an engine and tackle. This is combined with a winning mentality and determination. I'd miss him so much if he left. He is a real quality footballer.

Why do you always say that? He's played more on the wing than in the middle in his career and he's only ever played LW for us as well.

  9. Because you hardly ever see him run along the wing, he's always drifting inside to shoot or to slot someone in via a through ball. So we might aswell keep him in the center.

He's an inside forward then. Players like Arjen Robben cut in all the time but are best used on the wing. Ben Arfa can play both positions comfortably, we shouldnt have a set formation next season, we need to rotate a lot more than we did this season.

Barton is straight into the first team until Cabaye, Jonas, Ben Arfa and Barnetta prove they are better than him. Only Tiote bettered Barton last season, so until someone proves otherwise, Barton is a shoe-in

Everyone should have to prove themselves at the start of a new season, even Barton shouldn't be automatically in the team. Don't get me wrong if i was picking the team based on what i know/expect Barton would be in it but i think everyone must have equal opportunitys

I think we can all be in agreement we have plenty of LW options now at the club. Jonas, Marveux, Ferguson and if needed Arfa.

For me we only have makeshift right wingers, Barton, Arfa (Best as CAM) Jonas (Needs to play on the left to hook up with Enrique) and Routledge who isn't a regular first team starter and probably off to QPR at some point!

If we could by some miracle get Sturridge at the club, I think it would be a great signing as he can play as an attacking RW or an outright striker so we could cover the two positions with one player and save some money to perhaps spend on a CB/RB.

    ----Tiote--Barton---
    Sturridge-Arfa-Jonas
    ---------Ba--------

  15. You'd put Sturridge in midfield ahead of Cabaye?

Apparently Sturridge is nowhere near as effective playing wide, I remember reading on the Chelsea board on old 606.

I don't watch alot of french football if I'm honest but from what I've read he is a box-box midfielder, so in the formation I've got above I would see him more as competition for where I've put Joey...

Watched Sturridge in the U21s last week in which we played a 4-3-3, with Sturridge on the right of a front three and he looked quality cutting inside and taking a shot on his left peg.

If you wanted to accomodate Cabaye and/or Marveux we could also switch to a 4-3-3

    Barton-Tiote-Cabaye/Jonas
    Sturridge-Arfa-Marveux

With the front three given the freedom to switch things about. Then again I'm not the manager so upto Mr. Pardew! Just think Sturridge would give us alot of options.

From what I saw he never looked great playing anywhere for Chelski!

Played on the right for the U21s recently and looked pretty awesome.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Os9nrVFHyhE - 2:26 - Cuts inside from a position on the right and hits one hell of a strike on his left boot.
