Saints Chairman Ralph Krueger is going to be joining Saints fans who are cycling from St. Mary's to Villa Park to raise money for The Saints Foundation.

Ralph has agreed to cycle the entire length of the journey alongside the 29 Southampton supporters who will also be taking part.

The Saints fans will depart St. Mary's on the morning of Good Friday, travelling 81 miles before resting overnight in Oxfordshire.

On Saturday morning, the fans, and Ralph, will cycle the remaining 60 miles to Villa Park in time for kick-off.

    Southampton Chairman - Ralph Krueger:

"I am honoured to be able to help strengthen the profile of the Saints Foundation by taking part in their annual Big Bike Challenge."

"Our Foundation is built on exemplary values and the excellent work that our team does is making a real difference in our community. The funds that we raise enable life changing opportunities for people that need it."

"I can’t wait to get on my bike with the other riders and support this great cause. It will also be a wonderful opportunity to see more of the English countryside."

Good. Now, while he's riding, how about spending the time composing a statement like "We've heard from several players that they very much hope we're still a club with top four ambition. Let me express it this way: We are, and we will be getting there shortly. Forget consolidation; we're still driving for the top".

Then he can relax and enjoy the ride.

Well played Ralph. Respect to you and the rest of the Saints Foundation riders.

If he rides a pushbike as well as he talks management speak, he'll sail through to Villa Park without breaking sweat. :)

Good to see (hope he's an experienced rider or he'll be standing at the match).

Must say I was seriously impressed that Newcastle fans made it here by bike the other week.

Yes, but Newcastle to Southampton is downhill. Ralf is going uphill....far more impressive.

Yet I hear people talking about coming up to Southampton..? It doesn't even work in terms of elevation, because Southampton is generally only a few metres off sea level. Plus, we're about as far South as one can get in the UK, football wise, unless we get a Brighton, Portsmouth, Bournemouth, Exeter, Torquay or Plymouth Argyle Cup match.

[Unbelievable that there are actually 6 clubs in the league that are further South. Pub quiz question..!]

I know you mean league clubs but pedantry requires that I point out Lizard Argyle, the most southerly football club on the UK mainland. Details here: http://www.lizardfootballclub.co.uk

It's because we are such a major metropolis <whistle> People also say that they are going up to London wherever they are.
