What do you guys & Gals think, Just read his interview on WFC site (here it is if you haven't seen it) http://www.watfordfc.com/page/NewsDetail/0,,10400~2379079,00.html Got me thinking if he will go down as one of the greats in a WFC shirt? Don't get me wrong I dont think he quite got to the level of a Holton, Blissett, Coton, Mooney, Smith, Robbo (plus many more) because of the amount of time with the club, but there was something about this guy that I loved watching week in week out. I know it was only 2 seasons but he grew in confidence in his first season and looked very special this season. For me he showed the goals of Blissett, but also the passion and determination of a Robbo, and to me that is the key! scoring goals is great but show passion, enthusiasm and determination and you will always be appreciated. Legend I am not so sure, so I will let you decide? and while we are at you can give your all time favourite player, I know some are obvious by your posted names but let us know why? For me Tony Coton, I just remeber so many outstanding saves and goalkeeping followed closely by Robbo for his passion ......
Aw, that got me all tingly, thanks for that. A good interview, honest. I don't think he was with the club long enough to call him a legend, but he worked like a trojan every second of every game, and that's why, even when he wasn't scoring, he was highly respected. His character also shone through, a good bloke, a great team player, and a joy to watch for the last two years.
No. Not with us for long enough. If he returns for a second spell maybe. Legends. Obviously Ross Jenkins I Barry Endean maybe. Coton/Sherwood/Rankin. PYO. Blissett. Kenny Jackett if he gets our job.
No, if he had stayed for a few more years and continued like this one I would say perhaps. I think there are too many superlatives used and DG was good but not a legend.
His attitude, passion and commitment were better than anyone in the team last season. He worked harder than was expected for every game he played with us and unlike in his first season, this time it really paid off. Not only did he provide us with goals and entertaining football, he made me feel proud of the club, in the words of the excellent interview on the WFC website - "a true gent". Certainly not on the same level as Blisset or GT, etc. He wasn't here long enough to be that respected. Perhaps we could call him a 'semi-legend'.
Hello all, DG ? Not a legend (.....sadly, he had promise), however he gave much enjoyment over last 2 seasons.... I Am Legend though !!
Yes in my eyes. He wore the shirt with pride on every occasion and never once spoke a bad word about the club or tried to force a move away. He's even said on his twitter that he'll be back to watch games when Swansea aren't playing. He may not be as legendary as some but still one of the best Watford players in a while
A touching interview. I, like many, will be sad to see Danny go. I agree with the above who say that he wasn't at the club long enough to be classified as a legend but I for one would say he was a Watford 'hero' in a turbulent season. Pride, passion, it was a joy to watch him play everyweek and he comes across a very decent bloke. I wish him all the best.
Good player - yes, 100% effort - yes but legend? I think it's better judged when his career has finished, especially if he does an LB or TS and returns. My favourite players? As I'm born in Watford and am left-footed, it has to be KJ and Robbo.
When you compare him to GT, TS, HH, LB, JG and RJ I then he is not in the same class, but in his own way he has to be called one, he knew how to get the fans on side and get them going. He was a genuine guy and he was a pleasure to watch and to see play, its clear he loves his football and he gives 100% every second he can whether you win loose or draw. I hope he reaches and achieves his dream of premiership football for newcastle one day, he deserves it!
A legend in the making, until he upped and left. True legends; Blissett, Barnes, Callagan, McClelland, Porter, Gibbs, Mooney spring to mind...
For me, yes. He broke records and he will be to mini bloother in years to come what loother was to me. That he was here for only 2 seasons is a sign of the times I'm afraid.
