The fee wasn't mentioned though. Presumably Chelsea would still try and enforce payment of it. It's no different to a transfer fee increasing once a player hits a certain amount of appearances for his new club etc. Can understand all concerned saying he can play but it shouldn't be for Uefa to get involved in a contract agreed between the clubs before the loan took place.
I'd imagine your chief executive would have mentioned the the fee in his statement, if they where going to enforce it
I've never heard anything suggesting that this would happen. Jose trusts Cech and there is no point having Courtois sitting on the bench for most of a season. I personally would want him back as I think he is now better than Cech but i think he will be loaned to atletico again next season.
Not at all, he said that they would look at the Uefa statement which dealt with 2 issues, his right to play and the fee. He's already confirmed the right to play so why would he need to consider the statement if it wasn't to address the comments on the fee. Looks like another grey area with how much a sporting body can get involved in contracts etc
I don't think you would whilst the season is underway. Jose is the ultimate man manager so why would he potential upset Cech whilst he is playing every game this season by insinuating he may be bumped next year? However it's all conjecture and it seems AM are confident he'll be with them next year as long as he extends his deal at Chelsea.
How about you just get your wealthy owner to buy 20 of the best players in the world, and then loan them all out to sides in the bottom half of the PL, so they can then take points off all your rivals, yet wouldn't be allowed to play against you guys. It is fair enough spending the money on players that you do, but you shouldn't be allowed to strengthen the opposition of your competitors. Wealthy clubs have a big enough advantage as it is without exploiting the loan system
It has nothing to do with Costa and why would Atletico have him as bait, we own him so it's up to us whether to sell him or not. Guillem Balague suggested earlier that Atletico believe that Courtois will sign a new Chelsea deal and they don't want to risk losing the chance to have him back on loan next season.
It's all allowed within the rules so there is nothing wrong with doing this. It was a smart move by Chelsea when they knew that FFP was coming in, we have so many players who could be sold for good money ie Lukaku and Courtois as well as many other players on loan. Good planning by the Chelsea boys!
What we really should do is buy up all the young prospective keepers, loan them to Prem clubs so they can't play against us.....oh wait, that was ManU that already did that
Are you this bothered about Man City loaning out Barry or Huddlestone at Hull or is it just us? You could do the same but then I don't think even Fulham or Hull would take Cleverley!!
I've just read that it is unlikely Coutois will play against us! That must be something in our favour!
Yeah but it's only Chelsea who are evil and should be stopped from doing things other clubs have been doing for years. Chelsea were the first team apparently to spend money on players, before that and Roman's money, all other clubs traded in cattle and magic beans.
Think it'll be dissapointing if Courtois isn't able to play. He's obviously a key player for them and very much part of there team. It'll be a far better game if one team doesn't have to use there back-up keeper....
Anybody know how suspensions work? As it stands looks like Luiz,Ivan and Willian miss the first leg. Is that right? Looks like quite a few on one yellow so could miss 2nd leg.
