if we signed barnetta would barton even make our first 11??

as the title says can you see a place for barton in pardews first XI next year if we sign barnetta or another pacy right winger?

the way i see it is it'd probs look like this:

Harper(Krul)

Simmo/Saylor/Colo/Jose(Naylor)

Cabaye/Tiote

new winger(barnetta?)/Ben Arfa/Jonas(marveaux)

Ba(new striker)

Pards is obviously going for direct and pacey players for next year, which too be honest i'm all for. i even think that routledge would fit the new system a lot more than he did last year so he might not even be sold. for me i see barton and cabaye fighting for on spot in midfield. i don't see him going anywhere near the wing in the new system.

 

Barton could still fit in, they're not all going to play every week, a bit of rotation to keep them all fresh will see a fairly regualr place for him.

I agree that he would get plenty playing time over the course of the session but do you see him being automatic first 11 pick?

thats the question i'm asking. i personally don't think so unless cabaye takes a while to find his feet.

 

Thing with Barnetta, as with Ba, Gosling, Marveaux.... he's a bit injury prone.

Barton should be one of the first names on the teamsheet in my opinion.

 

We still need players like Barton for when it gets tough. I am looking forward to seeing us play more attractive football next year but we still need to keep some grit in the team.

 

i agree we'd be a worse *team* without him as we all know what the french are like when it comes to battle....(discounting them knocking the f*ck out of a bunch of Libyan civilians dressed in fatigues).

Not sure how many teams have a defined starting 11 anymore, fairly certain SAF doesn't have one. He plays Park in big cup games but he doesn't get used that often in the league. Horses for courses, would start Barton against a tougher/ combative team like say Stoke but probably wouldn't use him against the newly promoted teams or Wigan/Wolves where we'll have most of the possesion.

 

Barnetta is rubbish I hope we don't sign him, Jeremy Menez or N'Zogbia for me.

 

Finally someone talks some sense! I really don't rate Barnetta, I watched a few of the Swiss Euro qualifiers again a few days back and it appears all this guy is good at is diving! Not the sort of player I want to see playing for the toon, definitely give Jonas a run for his money for a BAFTA.

 

I dont really think we need another winger now we've got Marveaux, and if Barton stays then I think he'll probably be captain next season.

so we've got 2 wingers and we don't need another one? yeah we've got players we can stick out there in a pinch, but Barton is a CM, and Marveaux and Jonas are primarily left wingers.

 

Ferguson's also a natural left sider, so one of Marveaux and Jonas will play on the right at times as well depending on formation and which striker we use.

Also Gosling, Barton and Ben Arfa are quite capable on the right hand side, people seem to forget Ben Arfa's played a lot of his career on the wing.

 

We have more than enough cover for the midfield! We need no more!

Barnetta would be GOOD only if we shipped Barton out(wouldn't want that to happen), otherwise I'll prefer N'Zogbia.

Anyways we should be looking upfront to strengthend not in midfield or in defence(although it can be improved).

Nzogbia want's 60k apparently, if that's true he can go **** himself.
