Well then Santi. Play like a winner and help the team to the cup. You want to win, then play like you do.

What does this have to do with the thread right now? Yeah get rid of Wenger right now. Right before the FA Cup Semi-Final. Brilliant.

It's sad to hear a player in his second season already questioning the team and Wenger indirectly. A player really has no right to talk about transfers, this is the responsibility of the Manager. It looks like he has one eye on Arsenal and one eye for any decent club to come and take him away. How has it come to this, especially under the Wenger era, that players want to leave to win things? Wenger was suppose to be a winner, he was suppose to be one of the best managers around? How much longer before Ozil starts thinking of moving? Not good at all.

The one thing I would offer in Cazorla's defence is I presume the interview was conducted in Spanish and there is a strong possibility some of it has been "lost in translation"

Could have been even worse in Spanish for all we know...

Well we'll just have to wait for him to prove us wrong by saying this was "Lost in translation". But as past histories go, he isn't the only player to say this and he won't be the last, until things change.

I honestly don't understand why everyone is so p*ssed off. When we say the same things (almost word for word) it's fine but if a player says it too then he's a traitor?! They're not robots, they have feelings and I'm glad Santi is frustrated. Nor has he excluded himself from criticism. Had he said "they're playing badly" it would have been much worse but it's "we, we, we".

Bah, I'm not good with words but Arseblog are and they echo my feelings on the little man: http://arseblog.com/2014/04/what-cazorla-said-should-be-embraced-not-criticised/

It's an interesting read as per usual from them but from the looks of it, it won't strike a cord with any of you.

I don't think people are pissed off with Cazorla (well i'm not), but its the fact that players feel that Arsenal isn't a place they can be successful in. Other players have echo'd this sentiment recently - RVP, Nasri, Clichy, Sagna....

They've all been proven correct too, bar Sagna who is borderline gone anyway. I don't think Cazorla wants out, just wants the club to show ambition and character. I honestly think RVP would have stayed if we'd made a few signings before but that obviously never panned out. The difference now is we should be able to invest this summer, and properly. We're also still in a battle for 4th and the semis of the FA cup. No matter how bleak this season has felt at times I still deem it a step in the right direction from recent years.

Since Arsenal last won a trophy, ex-Arsenal players have won 44 medals.
Leaving seems to be the surest way of getting your hands on some gold.

Perhaps some of our ex-players should look to themselves. How many trophies did we win when they were playing for us ?

Nice try. They went to other places and won trophies. They themselves as players were good enough, clearly something was missing at Arsenal. If it happened to one or two you could say they got lucky with the teams they went to. If it didn't happen with one or two, they may not have been good enough. But so many? The players were good enough, several times, but something was missing.

You may want to call it a nice try but whether you like it or not we never won trophies whilst they were playing for us so as far as I am concerned they must shoulder some of the responsibility.

A lot of them left BECAUSE they weren't winning trophies. When you see Bendtner being paid 52k a week, or Djourou, or Denilson, would you want to stick around and play for a club that "believes in the mental strength" of those players while they consistently fail to deliver season after season with no consequence at all?

The fact is, after they left, they had success, while Arsenal didn't. I'd say that justifies their leaving.

Do you not think that any those players should should take any responsibility for us not winning a trophy whilst any of them were at the club ?

"I believe in ze squad we have. I think they have ze spirit and ze attitude... And ze belief.

If an opportunity arises here or there and we find ze top top quality, of course we will look at it.

I think we can do it with ze squad we have yes, I believe it. [... awkward silence as he looks at a random reporter...] Why you look at me!?"

We don't know what goes on at Arsenal, all we know is the results they see. Maybe they tried. Maybe they tried extremely hard, got fed up of the way Wenger runs the club, the tactical ineptitude and the unwillingness and downright blindness over strengthening areas where it was blatently obvious new and better players were needed?
Or maybe they got fed up of the "socialist wage structure" which left them scratching their heads at why they were valued at the same level as those previously mentioned, and left.
You can pick whichever reason you want, the fact is, their decision to leave was justified by the success they enjoyed after they left.

Do you not that the manager should question why he hasn't won any trophies when he clearly had players capable of doing so at his disposal?

If it was one or two yes... But it isn't one or two is it?

    Lehmann
    Sagna
    Toure
    Gallas
    Clichy
    Flamini
    Fabregas
    Hleb
    Walcott
    Van persie
    Adebayor
    Rosicky
    Diarra
    Song
    Eduardo
    Gilberto
    Diaby

Disgraceful that AW still couldn't win a trophy with that team.
