  1. I'm certain there is a percentage applied in the ruling somewhere. This allows clubs to build but also stops the lower ranked sides where a £4m increase would be excessive overspending to catch up. I'm positive I read this???

Those who have a current wage bill which is below £52m, can do what they like.

Any club above that level it applies to, with the 2 caveats that I mentioned. So for example, get a new shirt deal that pays an incremental £5m per season from next year, and you can do what you like with the incremental cash - on top of the £4m hike limit.

  3. Fair enough, didn't know additional income effected it. Basically based in turnover really then <ok>

    Yes, but non TV revenue.

So get more bums on seats or increase your sponsorship portfolio i.e. grow your business, and you can do what you like it.

Stand still and just rely on the incremental TV cash and you'll be limited to how much you can let agents get their greedy mitts on.

A decent start in attempting to control heinous wage levels in the game getting beyond comprehension, but nowhere near far enough imo.

  5. Prefer to see a price limit of seats, would love to be able to afford to go to a game again. Then again, this country is so over populated nowadays it would be like seeking gold-****ing-dust!

thank you for this information. so a small cub <52mil could put 40ml in wages on overnight but a biggish prem club with 52 mil has to show increased revenue (bigger stadium or eithad deal) to increase like that

yes, before this year i'd have put skertl in the sweeper role only per carra but for some reason this year he's competing in the air has been vastly improved. drogba and any big man took him apart. this year he's dominating everything in the air but also is under rated in pace and is sweeping up.. lousy passer mind....

sahko, remains to be seen. has to prove it to me, looks good but awkward

Good to see people still believe this myth that he can't pass...

Can't recall many misplaced passes from him this season, yet I can remember quite a few occasions where he's carried it forward and looked for an attacking pass.

suppose if you mean when he loses the head like.... oh spurs and decided he can go wild then yeah but i think if sides decide to not press on a guy and he keeps it simple he won't make mistakes that much... he is a bad passer relatively speaking... i well remember that near disastrous debut.. <laugh> to his credit, knowing ones limiations and playing to ones strengths is a good thing... but lets not ascribe hansonesque quality to the guy now.

Once they crossed the £52m threshold they'd have to abide by the same rules, there's was only 2 or 3 established PL sides who came in below that threshold btw.

Again thanks I didn't get a chance to look for any club wages but in this day and age that does seem a minimum kid of figure, though worryingly I think 100 mil revenues figures are not so easy. The tv money does give but with the same hand I think it takes back through transfer inflation which drives wages mad

So, according to the Telegraph man yoo are far to big a club to qualify for such a lowly competition as the Europa League, yet its a good competition for ambitious other clubs, in fact its a "holy grail".

[h=1]Manchester United should play a tea lady in goal if it helps to avoid the Europa League[/h][h=2]Seventh place is the holy grail for ambitious Premier League clubs who want to lift the curse of Thursdays in the Baltics and a tea lady in goal could help Manchester United avoid qualification[/h]

I expect to see a slew of complaints from tea-ladies now, outraged by this slight on their noble profession.

As if any of them would want to play for Utd.

I thought they were already playing the tea ladies, you can't tell me that Cleverly and Nani are professional footballers <yikes>

  16. From the gossip column:

Someone should tell the players that's what they're for since they keep using the beds during games <laugh>

copying everton... not sure its the best way as frankly I'd rather sleep at home even though say rooney would have his own dedicated chalet for himself so you can only imagine the state of that!

If i player chose to live 1 hour away from ground i'd understand but if you train that way then...

  18. Footballers are paid fortunes are therefore usually have massive houses. I'm sure they can afford to have one room kitted out to isolate them for a night.

you think that wouldn't you but wives are funny beasts yeah? could take it bad and a 3 year old or a 6th month old scream will not respect the door will they?

I think generally i'd be way better at home. I mean unless you stay there all the time its unfamiliar and boredom can set in, you stick in a games console... next thing you've david james all goggle eyed dropping catches etc... I don't know whats best but i can't see a trip to the training ground in the morning v a stay over meaning that much on the pitch.

If all week you drive the hour to training and back frankly the impact is there. not the night before the game. they bring players in and have meals for the game and all that regimented. it must be f'm boring all day waiting for a 17:30 kick off on saturday.

United stay in the Lowry before every home game anyway.
