    Anyone else head this somewhat spurious rumour of Martin Jol joining as assistant (?) to Lord Alan of Pardew?

    Don't think King Martin of Jol would work as an assistant to Pardew unless he he was really short of readies, and I don't think he will be.

    Dunno, Jol's always struck me as someone who likes cameras pointed at him. Plus he might feel like doing a Meulensteen.

    Jol is someone on here we've never mentioned - he's very much a kind of guy who'd just work with what he's got.

    Many moons ago, I'd have been quite happy with him but his stock has obviously gone down in recent times.
    Nothing surprises me anymore, so it wouldn't come as a shock if he arrives one day.

    That Mike Ashley has "lined up" Jol to replace Carver, 'cos he luvs Spurs and is desperately keen to undermine Pardew. I may have embellished it a bit, and to be fair the last "rumour" I posted here was about Daveeeed.....#pinchofsalt

    Sorry, you know I'm only basing that on managerial ability, personality, likability and historical success. In terms of having a sense of self-importance, smugness, untouchability, and being utterly limited then it's a big PARDEW > everyone in the Universe, ever.

    It broke my heart seeing him, head in hands, tears in his eyes during the ****tiness at Fulham.

    This is much better. Scenes when Pardew gets sacked and he takes he job from underhim. Happy days celebrating final day relegation safety with a 0-0 draw with some **** team - lets say Burnley.

    He's won nothing in England, and failed at Spurs, Hamburg and Fulham. He won the dutch cup with Ajax but missed out on the league despite having more resources than other teams
