    This ^.

Accepting it, yes. Being optimistic, improving, bouncing back better, yes. These I can understand.

Actually pleased about it? No. Beyond me.

Think it will be easier to do in the Championship...

Not happy we are in the situation we are though

For once mate I have to agree with you. Even though I have sort of accepted the fact that we are down, I get no pleasure at all from it, it's a ****ing crying shame to be honest and anyone who says they are happy with it isn't s true fan.

Read it, what he says is very true but I just don't get why any SAFC supporter would be over the moon to see their team relegated.

You can see what he says about regrouping in the Championship, but being happy about going down is way OTT.

I've said a million times before, relegation will never be an acceptable scenario for me. Being relegated yet again merely reinforces the yo-yo image of the club and advertises to potentially good players we are a small time operation. Relegation is a disaster both financially and image wise.

Being a bigger fish in a smaller pool cuts **** all mustard in my camp. I have absolutely no interest in another second tier campaign, even if we were to win every game 6-0. Its a massively hollow compensation for not being in the top flight. I want far, far bigger and better ambitions for my SAFC.

I agree with the sentiment completely but aren't you failing to renew your season ticket? Surely that mean's you aren't a true fan as well?

Whilst im trying to think along the lines of 'relegation is a necessary evil in the long run' I really cant get excited about us playing second tier teams. Even if we are ripping them apart what joy is there. Its like a former great boxer fighting bums after his peak has long gone.

So we score 3 at home to Bournemouth, id struggle to leave my seat it would be that meaningless.

But......ask yourself this. What's better for three year's from now?

If we stayed up it would be another 15 in 15 out flirt with relegation be lucky to stay up. Itd be akin to keeping someone in a medically induced coma when really the life support should be shut off.

If we stayed up it would just be delaying it for another year I think.

Have a little bet to cheers ouselves up.

We'll get promoted next season and the mags will get relegated.

Totally gutted were going down and my concern is not getting back as easy as some people believe we will.
The premiership is the be all and end all of football imo and to not be in it is a complete disaster as far as I am concerned.

This bloke needs medical help by suggesting he's glad of our plight.

I'm not renewing because in my eyes the club is f**k from top to bottom pal. I think Cest, Welder man & many more on here have said they are not renewing to.

i agree totally its a big thing to get promoted from the championship these days and its getting harder all the time, norwich actually dropped into div one before coming back to the prem not so long ago ,coupled with the fact even if our present side played i dont think they would achieve it.

Wasn't trying to single you out, wasn;t aware Welder and Cest were in that camp also. I have no opinion either way. It's just interesting that some lads may look forward to relegation and renew while other will only want the best for Sunderland and not renew.

Two very different types of fan. I'm certainly not qualified to say who's the better fan. Hard to say.

I agree mate it is hard to say.

At the end of the day some people will renew & some will not. just the way it is.

If we had a better owner, more people at that top end of the club what know about football & had a better manager then I would of renewed if I'm honest.

The mugs what say I'm only not renewing because it's the Championship are talking bullshit.

So we go down. Players leave - good riddance tomost, some will be missed (and will go for a fraction of their worth)

Eventually we come back up - with all the problems that brings. Lack of prem experience, paying over-the-odds for low profile journeymen or untried foreigners. Add to this the all too obvious bias referees have towards newly promoted teams.............

I am sick to the pit of my stomach. How is it we are still stumbling around the basement?

Well I must be the only one left who doesn't think we will go down I reckon this weekend will be where we turn the corner and then go on a bit of a run and overtake Norwich but then again i am probably a doolallie nut case with following Sunderland so long. :emoticon-0102-bigsm
