I'm not holding my breath for internet rumours, but if they turn out to be true I think he'd be a good signing for us and that it would be a good step for him. That said, I'd hope he was signed as a squad player to cover DM and that we were on the look out for quality attacking midfielders to fill the massive and woeful creative hole we have at the minute. Then again this is Newcastle so he'd probably be our only signing...

I personally hope we keep him. I think he'd do very well for us in the Championship.

I still think that he, Catts and Ki is our best central midfield 3 - he offers more than Bridcutt that's for sure.

Actually wasn't meant as a dig - just meant that if he does want a fresh start/challenge then coming to us could be a good move for him.

There would be no need to relocate
    no upheaval
    we're his boyhood team
we're in the prem (you might still be, I know, but he may not want a move if you are)
we're not that good that we've got such a good squad that he'd never get a game

I'm sure we're not his only option, and for once I wasn't having a dig about Sunderland, I just feel that if he is moving it could be a good fit for both parties.

i agree,my thoughts are sunderland will rue the day if they let him go/or lose him ,as ive said before if i was a manager he is the type of person/player which makes the job easier ,no frills, no trouble a honest hard working young player who by the way never throws himself about feigning injury like some also his fittness is top notch.

I don`t blame the lad one bit for not signing.
He`s one of the few we`ve got who are worth a place in a PL team.
If he wants PL football it`s looking less and less likely he`s going to get it here.

Another rumour going the rounds is Johnson to Everton, apparently.

To be fair to that player, to have him in the team you got to play a certain way... to put it simple, you have to play football.

Alan Pardew hasn't got the best from him because although he is a little tenacious, he likes to play the ball to the nearest team mate or an advancing winger and keep the flow going...

Alan (bless him) must get frustrated and has probably ordered poor Vurnon to watch videos on Graeme Souness or Roy Keane in an effort to convert him from the famed Ajax way of playing Football, AKA playing Football.

Load of codswallop. We don't sign players. At best this will be a loan deal!

    Time to say goodbye...

Jack Colback has reportedly informed Sunderland that he will not be renewing his contract with the club regardless of the result of the survival bid.

The homegrown product is out of contract in the summer and has decided it's time to go.

Jack Colback has told #Safc he's leaving this summer, whichever league they're in.Several rounds of talks with Congerton but no resolution.

Fulham, West Ham & Villa have been sniffing after Colback apparently. Don't think #Nufc are. He'll go for nowt unless it's abroad.

To be honest, it's no real shock. He's an ambitious young player on the verge of his most important contract of his career. Sunderland don't really look like a club you'd gamble on right now.

More to the point, I'm not sure I care. This squad in its entirety has led us a merry dance for far too long. I've probably never felt more disconnected to any set of Sunderland players in my life. It's not about them being rubbish, I've seen far worse, trust me. They've just repeatedly failed to persuade me that they have even the smallest amount of respect for this club, its fate, and its supporters.

This summer will see a huge amount of players leave and I won't be sad to see the back of any of them, Colback included.

Not too bothered tbh, if he played like he did vs Newcastle away every week then he'd be a top 10 player and I'd be sad to see him leave. But he doesn't.

Not sure what it is, but sometimes he just doesn't impose himself on the game

He's not going to improve them, hell add depth to the squad, but he is not a signing that will get a team a place or two up the league.

Hes apparently come out and said he wont be signing so id have Ba on the bench and Colback not in the match day squad.

Good luck at Hull Jack :-/ ......................

He's ****e, he pases the ball 4 yards sideways.

I wouldn't even give 2 ****s if we paid the Mags to take him.

    Next.

He's one of the few who haven't looked like they didn't give a ****. But then he's hardly been a world beater either. I'd certainly keep him if we can, as he's well above Championship standard, but how far above is hard to tell when he's playing alongside our surrender monkeys...
