And probably this index doesn't take into account Henderson's probably greatest attribute - his relentless hounding, as there's no stats for it unless it materialises into a tackle or an interception (don't think there's a metric called "forced bad pass", is there?).

    Let's compare Henderson's 7.0 (a talented grafter) and David Silva's or Toure's (a talented ball artist) 7.0, hypothetically:

    Henderson: 33 games total - 5 games rated 6.5, 23 games rated 7.0, 5 games rated 7.5.
    Silva/Yaya: 31 games total - 2 games rated 5.5, 4 games rated 6.0, 6 games rated 6.5, 7 games rated 7.0, 6 games rated 7.5, 4 games rated 8.0, 2 games rated 8.5.

More variance, same average. At the end, though the more skillful footballer is more likely to take over a game with an exceptional performance, the consistent grafter is more consistent (fewer off days) throughout a game or a season.

As in those olympic sports where there are two scores (one for artistic technique and one for technical fundamentals), one can conceive a similar rating for footballers.

Who would have thought a website called whoscored.com would underate a player who doesn't score many goals <yikes>

<laugh> the extend you had to go to try to find something to back up your #bitterness is proof of your #fail <ok>

The 'extend' (sic) that I went to, was to type 'ratings for premier league players' into google and it was No. 3 in the list <doh>

Oh and there's players ahead of him who've not scored a single goal, as the title of the website doesn't denote how they statically formulate the ratings stats, you massive beaut <laugh>

No but they do put a large bonus on aerial duals won and man of the match awards. The aerial duels part is weird and the man of the match awards once again gets back to the issue of only recognising "stand out" performances.

Demichelis is highly rated by that website because he has a MOTM award, which I think was for the game against Hull (and awarded by Michael Owen <laugh>) on the basis of not ****ing up again after giving away penalties in previous games (Barcelona in the CL and Wigan in the FA Cup) <ok>
