4:56 - worst tackle of the first 5 minutes of video, and it's a Celtic player wiping out an Atletico one Aye, a few bad tackles. Suppose you had to be there.
Does Billy McNeill strike you as the sort of man who would bear a grudge for 40 years and call them scum to this day for no good reason?
Well, on a personal level I don't actually know Billy McNeill, but professionally I imagine he probably feels justified to hold a grudge for 40 years. However, as a fan and one who wasn't born until 10 years later, I don't feel the need to harbor 4 decades of ill will just because Billy does. Each to his own, I suppose. IMO there's still more to dislike about the other 3 teams in it but hey ho.
Not to me there's not. I dislike Chelsea immensely but Real and Bayern (Or Chelsea) have never (to my knowledge) cheated Celtic out of a Euopean Cup final. To be honest if Atletico had their own version of the Munich air crash it would not bother me.
Tbh I struggle to keep up with which teams we have a "special bond" with and which we are enemies with. We should have an amnesty. Or resuscitate the "enemies of Celtic" thread
I want Atletico to win it (and La Liga) Bayern are acting the **** buying all good players in Bundesliga **** Chelsea and Mourinho (the cheating **** ..2003 ) **** Ronaldo
I hate Mourinho but I don't hate Porto. Hating a football club is bit like those American redneck nutters who have an irrational fear of the government. I can't see how you equate the actions of the employees of a football team 40 years ago with the actions of the current one.
For me being a football fan is all about football. I've never felt the need to bolt-on grievances, religion or nationalism.
I know we got the treatment from Atletico years ago but you cant help but admire the current team and manager. They have tremendous technical ability but its the heart, work ethic and team spirit that is unrivaled anywhere in Europe just now that makes them what they are. They are a breath of fresh air in my opinion a midst the money game that is European football and it might be a while before we see a team like this being built from nowhere again. They deserve to win it, no team wants it more and no team works harder for each other, Dortmund had similar spirit but they were decimated by injuries this season. No one left in that tournament will want Atletico because going to the Vicente Calderon is probably the hardest place to go in Europe just now, they are almost unbeatable there no matter how good the opposition is.
who mentioned religious or nationalist grudges? I have a really f**king deep hatred of burnley because they beat York city in the mid 90's in a play off game. i dislike Newcastle because after living there i think lots of their fans are ****s. probably my most ridiculous hatred is forrest, i hate them because of clough but my main grievance is because the nottingham miners didn't go on strike like the rest of them. now without getting political in my shallow little mind forrest are absolute ****s. however, if you do not have these grudges then fair play.
