The mines are only one possible source of the name, but it does show that the are covered by geordies. It also points out the lack of much use of the term mackem apart from in the very recent past.
By definition I'm a posh Yorkshireman(born in Richmond) ....however I've always been referred to as " Geordie " wherever I've worked in the UK because of my accent.
The other being some **** to do with the Jacobite Rebellion, where the settlement of Newcaslte were loyal to the the king, hence the term 'geordie' whereas Sunderland was not. Norway isn't in the EU, do you have any legal right to be here?
Nah man, you are a Quebecois. I'm from Nepal so I am a Nepoleon. Although my mam is from Montserrat. So technically I'm half Monster-rat.
Scandinavia. Denmark, Norway and Sweden. I assumed Denmark due to Danelaw, the Norwegian Vikings tended to be more west coast. Not many came to Hull though, the first settlers here are believed to be Parisii.
Some did yeah, the ones who are Geordies. Are you ****ing ******ed or what? It's not tough to understand. Some Sunderland fans come from newcastle/tyneside, they are Geordies. Those who are not from Newcastle aren't Geordies. Being a Geordie has nothing to do with football, the two aren't related. Spaka.
**** off you generic simpleton, anyone who needs to consult Wiki doesn't know the in's and out of the argument they're laying out. You're supposed to be a mod, Stop wumming and **** off eh?
I didn't need to consult wiki, I already knew, it was a link for those that seemingly didn't know. The fact something winds you up, doesn't mean it's wumming. I'm simply pointing out something raised in the OP and coroborated by other posters.
