Sunderland completed something of a coup last summer when they persuaded the Italy international to join from Serie A champions Juventus. He initially featured prominently under former Black Cats boss Paolo Di Canio but has since struggled to nail down a regular first-team berth under Gus Poyet. Sources in Italy claim the 27-year-old could be on his way out of the Stadium of Light in the summer and three clubs are will offer him a route out of the relegation-threatened club. Genoa are keen to take the midfielder back to his homeland, but it believed that West Ham and Hull are also on his trail too. http://talksport.com/football/west-...underland-ace-14041086830#5QwCgElsTsDjzC4g.99
I think he's perfect, someone who can get the ball out of the midfield and going forward. He's been good whenever he's played so I'm surprised he hasn't featured more
He was their standout player (in a pretty poor side) earlier in the season and looked a real talent, very positive, direct and creative. He's been shy on game time recently and hasn't really seemed up for the fight. He's the only member of their squad I'd consider taking.
I swear it's always been us & West Ham regarding the last City rumours..... The usual suspects Wouldn't mind him tho!
Hard to judge exactly how good he is because he has been playing in a crap team and has only been used by Poyet sporadically
Not for the fee he'll probably move for. I find him a bit flakey. I think Giaccherini has a bit more bite. My concern is that his NE experience might see Giaccherini go back to the continent.
If Sunderland go down we'll finally get to see if Altidore can cut it in the Championship like everyone thinks.
Surely the question has to be, why has he not featured more for them? Is Poyet really just a terrible man manager or is it something else?
There's been numerous threads on the Sunlan board regarding Poyet's appalling selection decisions. Very defensive and negative, setting up not to get beaten. To some extent I think that counts for his (and Johnson's) absence.
I think Giaccherini would be a great signing - he can play left wing or right wing and has also played as a left wing-back for Italy before.
To be taken with a pinch of salt I think. It's Sunderland remember, they think every manager is ****.
Interestingly, Elmo seemed out of sorts at Sunlan - albeit with a different manager and he hasn't done bad with us! Sometimes the chemistry isn't there. I'd like to see him at Hull City. I'm certain Bruce's qualities as a man manager would bring the best out of him!
Yeah I'd agree with that, even though I don't remember seeing much of this lad to know how good he is. I know when we got Elmo and Meyler, the Mackems at work told me they weren't good enough for the PL. Brucie genuinely seems to have a knack with getting the best out of some players. Oh how I laugh about that when I see them.
