Leeds are now on their worst run since they were relegated from this division, and manager Brian McDermott is under increasing pressure. This could be seen as the perfect opportunity to get back to winning ways as Blackpool have won just twice since November, when they were battling for a top six spot. The run sees the Seasiders just three points clear of the relegation zone, and manager Barry Ferguson will be hoping for 3 points to ease some of the nerves. Historically, this fixture has always been a close one, and earlier this season the two sides could not be separated. The home advantage, and large crowd expected to greet new owner Massimo Cellino could just give Leeds the edge they need to appease their furious fans. Leeds Wins 15 Draws 12 Blackpool 14

Leeds Form Blackpool Form

L 3 - 0 Watford Derby 1 - 3 L Last Game

L 1 - 0 Wigan Yeovil 1 - 2 L 1 - 1

L 0 - 1 Charlton QPR 1 - 1 D Draw

L 1 - 2 Doncaster Bolton 1 - 0 L 10/04/14 - Bloomfield Rd

L 4 - 1 Bournemouth Huddersfield 1 - 0 W

Top Scorers Current Position

Leeds Ross McCormack...27 Matt Smith...10 Rodolph Austin...3 Blackpool Tom Ince...7 Ricardo Fuller...6 Steve Davies...3

Team P W D L GD Pts

16 Leeds 41 13 8 20 -11 47

20 Blackpool 41 10 12 19 -24 42

Team News Damned's Starting XI

Leeds please log in to view this image Jimmy Kébé (Doubtful) please log in to view this image Patrick Kenny (Doubtful) please log in to view this image Rodolph Austin (Doubtful) please log in to view this image Luke Murphy (Doubtful) please log in to view this image Sam Byram (Doubtful) Add Austin and Murphy to the list of "doubtful" players who have mysteriously disappeared following poor form. I think we'll just about scrape it, it depends if Brian can find the "characters" he talked about midweek. If we can finally score a goal, I make us favourites to win. As Byram might still be out, Wooton to carry on at RB, with Zaliukas replacing Lees in the centre following some woeful performances. Brown and Tonge to sure up the midfield, and though it pains me to do so, Aidy White and Stewart to come in and try something different. Why the weird kick off time, or is that a typo? I dont think this is going to be one for the fans to be honest! Agree we will scrape it 1-0 but I'm hoping for the Cellino affect to kick in so possibly a few more goals in it. But I dont trust this lot to deliver anymore!
some kind of mark of respect maybe? That would be an extra pint for me if I was going so no complaint from me
The 3.07pm kick off marks the time in 1989 when the FA Cup semi-final between Liverpool and Nottingham Forest was abandoned
Not Hillsborough again? When are we going to read how it was that more 'pool fans ended up in the leppings lane end? Answer that, and we find out why 96 fans lost their life. Seriously bored with this tbh. On our game, surely we can turn in a good performance & hammer Blackpool 1-0 with a last minute iffy penalty!!!!
Victimpool want us all to join in their wallowing and total blame shifting. None of it was due to those without tickets cramming their way in to a full pen doncha know.
In a chilling reminder of scenes during the 1989 disaster, Ted told me of how the people in the upper stands had to pull people up from the terrace below. âIâd say that about 15 minutes before kick-off, we could see that the centre section of the standing area below us was extremely full. Itâs easy with hindsight but we didnât realise just how bad it could become. Lads were turning and looking up to us, a lot were being squashed and unable to enter the rest of the stand below. We started pulling fans up into the seats and out of the crush for a good while. My memory isnât exact but we were still helping people out of the standing area after kick-off.â THAT'S NOT TAKEN FROM THE 89 CUP SEMI FINAL,BUT FROM THE 87 CUP SEMI FINAL.LEEDS V COVENTRY.WAS IN THE SECTION MYSELF (But for the grace of god could have been us) SHOW SOME RESPECT LADS.
I was at Hillsboro in that pen when we played cov. Yes it was tight. But we didn't have an amount of ticketless fans getting in. Some of the blame belongs with those who shouldn't have been there. Compassion would be easier if there wasn't a culture of blaming everyone but those who actually started the cycle of events.
chesh i was at Luton in 85 and it all kicked off for the same reason over crowding it could have been us too if the fans hadnt smashed the fences down the old bill were trying to force everybody back in SHOW SOME RESPECT
And if you didn't have a ticket you wouldn't have gone ?.I would have still been there and if the police had opened the gates of course we would have gone in.
Without a ticket I wouldn't have gone and even if I had I wouldn't be wanting others to be held responsible for the consequences of my actions. We arnt going to agree on this on and I am not being disrespectful. Can't agree on everything.
The Police opened the fookin gate, there was 6,000 of us without tickets at Bournmouth 1989-90 trying to break the fookin gates down was a season ticket holder and went 42 games that season no one was going to tell me I could not go.
Put your handbags away lads LID has worked hard to make this a "MATCH THREAD" but let me know if you find somewhere else to continue
We will have to agree to disagree on this one mate. Actions sometimes have consequences even if they are unseen and not intended. I don't want to preach so won't comment further.
Right and I suppose it was the 2 Leeds fans own fault in Istanbul because their actions in going the game ?.The same with the Leeds fan at Birmingham killed when a wall collapsed on him.South Yorkshire police opened the gate and funneled the fans onto the nearest entrance, just as they funneled Leeds and Spurs before that into the same section, they also made the decision to put the largest supported team in the smallest end every time Liverpool,Leeds, and Spurs. But if you want to ignore the facts and follow the Sun newspapers line that's up to you. Here's another one for you. I have written about the 1981 F.A. Cup semi-final at Hillsborough here in which Spurs fans narrowly avoided a disaster in the Leppings Lane terraces. On that day, thankfully the South Yorkshire Police responded quickly to the danger of crushing and opened the gates in the fences between the terracing and the pitch. This allowed over 500 Spurs fans to use the pitch as a place of safety. You can see a video of the Spurs fans escaping the Leppings Lane crush, and sitting around the perimeter of the pitch here.
Sorry LID but as I'm not from Leeds and know people in the end on that day,I am not going to let people just spout the same old sun **** it was their own fault.
Not at all fella, it is a match thread as Mighty says, but I'm totally with you on this. SHOW SOME GODDAMNED RESPECT. 96 people died. No one should go to football and never come home, so let's drop the childish "victimpool" crap and realise that these people had families.
