Having it ready by 2017 is very ambitious. Living in Leeds I'm sure the arena was first planned and drawn up about 8 years before it opened.

Wow. Great to see such ambition.

"A senior source at the Guildhall said: 'I have no doubts that Hull is going to be the most prosperous city in the north in five years’ time.'"

    No negative comments please :)

There's no doubt that things are potentially looking up, but suggesting we're going to be more prosperous than the likes of Leeds and Manchester seems a tad over-confident!

Its a well known fact you can't be truly prosperous without a skyscraper

more people want Manchester to become Englands second city, than Birmingham.
as long as we become more of an established BPL team, the profile of the city will rise.

Well seen as we are a city on the up I might buy another house and sell it off as house prices due to go up again apparently. Will go towards my new dress for the Baftas.

I saw the story on the HDM's Facebook site. They are some fool's on it who just want to keep Hull in the dark ages.

Not a negative but I hope it will be bigger.

Some of the top names could fill that venue twice over imo.

What are the two city centre sites mentioned?

I thought the article would say, but it doesn't.

The council should build it next to the KC Stadium. Schadenfreude!

Hull as a city has such huge potential. It has been ignored by successive Governments and underfunded for years. Hopefully now we finally seem to be coming out of the shadows. Pity Larkin isn't alive to write about it.

I suppose they'd put the Ice Hockey in it would they to make it feasible
It would be terrific and the perfect size for concerts. Bring it on

How many cities in Britain have large indoor arenas these days? A great many. The competition for big events is very high. The idea that all those luvvies are going to come up to Hull for an awards ceremony, well it's DAFTA than anything.

It should say it but the fact it doeant begs questions. I would guess one would be on that undeveloped site where Romeo and JUliet's was and behind BHS. It has a proper name but I cant recall it...over to the older posters....

All this good news now Lord Prestcott has gone!
Imagine what Hull could have been like if he'd have stuck to waiting on tables instead on inflicting his political career on this city ?

This ought to be the catalyst for the development of the land around the KC, unfortunately, it won't be.
