Not surprised and don't mind. It's his boyhood club, not going to hold it against him. He won't improve them much anyway. Good luck to the lad if it's true.

    This.

I am struggling to feel much disappointment about anything at the moment. If I start I'll have a ****ing breakdown.

A very dependable player, how many times has he let the team down when played,he should be in the team in place of bridcott in my opinion and i would also be looking to secure him on a new contract ,nothing fancy with him but a solid pro and can only improve.

How Bridcutt is keeping him out if out team currently is baffling me tbh.

Decent lad and been here since he was 12. I think it's a massive error not to have got him to resign but not surprised to see him go. Makes sense if he has chosen the craas, as he has a new young family and won't have to relocate.

Good luck Jack but don't fall into the NE media trap of slagging SAFC at the first opportunity.

Very few - although his last 4 or 5 games he has been poor - having said that - his poor was nowhere near as bad as Ki's recent poor - I'd personally play him, Bridcutt and Cattermole but Catts in the role he had against Spurs as he thrived in that.

its obvious poyet has bridcutt as his first choice as its his signing so he is biased towards him,he is too small and has not got the prem experience of colback, its will be a pity if colback moves on as to me he is a managers dream of steadiness and reliability on the left or right in defence or midfield positions ,has the ability to become better if he moves on i suppose with a manager who plays him.

SUNDERLAND midfielder Jack Colback has emerged as a potential transfer target for Newcastle United.

Home-grown Academy product Colback will be out of contract and available on a free transfer at the end of the season.

Sunderland are keen to keep the long-serving Tynesider on Wearside.

Head coach Gus Poyet insisted in February that contract talks, complicated by the relegation-threatened Black Cats’ plight, were ongoing with the 24-year-old.

However, a deal has not been reached, and Colback, surprisingly, has been an unused substitute for the last two games, despite his impressive display in last month’s Capital One Cup final defeat to Manchester City at Wembley.

Colback was outstanding in Sunderland’s two derby wins over Newcastle this season, scoring the third goal in February’s 3-0 success at St James’s Park.

Newcastle manager Alan Pardew – who lost Yohan Cabaye to Paris Saint-Germain in January – is looking to strengthen his midfield options in the summer.

And a move for the versatile Colback would allow the Magpies’ transfer “kitty” to be spent elsewhere.

Pardew’s priority is to sign two strikers and an attacking midfielder.

Like we have transfer funds to spend. Next thing we will hear is that we have to generate our own funds by the sale of Cissé and HBA. JC looked decent on occasion. Nothing brilliant, honest player. Would probably be first name on teamsheet for SAFC in the championship while he probably would be sub player for us behind Anita and Tiote.

Up to him really, since he's out of contract. I wonder how that happens though. To let a good young player run his contract out.

Agree with everything except the Anita bit - he's a far better player than Anita is!! Although I have seen more of Jack than I have of Anita

Probably is. I've not been impressed with Anita either. I think he should be our utlity man at right back, left back etc and not battling in CM where he just doesn't have the physical abilities to really be competitive at CM. I haven't seen enough of JC to talk about how effective his is in CM taking on responsibility.

The biggest difference between teams like ours and teams like Everton/Spurs are they have people in midfield who can control and dictate a football game. We had that in Cabaye (for most part) for the first time in years, but I'm not convinced we'll find a replacement anytime soon.

Your Cabayes either cost a lot of money, or use the lower clubs as stepping stones. In retrospect you did very well to get YC so cheaply and keep him for so long.

Sorry but Tiote has been arguably been our most consistent player this season. Had an iffy season for much of last season but who didn't. Tiote would waltz into your first team, and the majority of teams outside the top 4/5 in this league.

Why do you choose the term "arguably our most consistent" rather than "best" - because he hasn't, for all intents and purposes, been that good?

He may well get into our side (we are bottom FFS - There's a lot of players outside the bottom three would get into our side - doesn;t make them great players) but I doubt that many of the top half clubs would want him there. He had one good season, was terrible last season and, has been your "most consistent" (Interesting choice of words) performer this season. And he's a cheating, diving soft ****e

Yeah we did well with Cabaye indeed. But frankly Cabaye too doesn't have the physical attributes to make it in the CL. He's not quite as good as Modric right, and Modric isn't really getting into the team all the time at Real. Cabs signed himself into being a bench player for a big club. If that's what he wants, fair enough. But top teams have such good strikers and wingers they often play with two defensive mindeded central midfielders and have a Nr10 instead. For which Cabs is too slow and not quite tricky enough. He's also quite petulent, gets frustrated, kicks people, has a temper. That's not gonna work playing against Barcelona where you don't get to kill a ball for 10 minutes at a time.

Tiote was very very good, and can still be when on song. His form though has been pretty up and down, but I wouldn't be surprised if/when he joins a team with a clever manager with the right fitness coaches he'd turn into an absolute monster of a defensive midfielder. He's got legs and reads the game, he just needs someone to tear his head off once for keep turning into trouble with the ball.

Anyway, I'd take JC any day of the week. He'd probably stick around for a while too, and not be off with the first offer that comes in.

I will rephrase it then - he's been our most consistent player. The reason I didn't say 'definitely' is because for half of this season the whole team has been awful. I just think Tiote is more often than not, the only player to come away from our team with a shred of dignity after some of the performances we've served up.

On another note, do you think you can beat Everton this weekend? Work with an Everton fan who is convinced you'll beat them. If you do, I think you might still stay up. If you get beat I think that's it

I have to agree with the mackems here, I've seen colback play maybe 5 times this season. I think that he is better than anita. Most importantly he could allow sissoko to move back into the middle and play out wide. LB, RB, LM, RM i think he is very versatile and has a great workrate. Anita is not good enough on the dribble or creating to make up for his weak physical attributes. He'll make a good squad player (an expensive one), but if were picking a box to box midfielder sissoko all day next to MR. T.

It'll be sad to see you mackems go down. I was hoping for some redemption next season. I think ellis short will do it right this time around. Invest in young talent, let them grow together much like southampton have done. Good luck at the weekend boys.
