Far superior technique and skill than Elmo, Elmo is prolific usually with crosses but went a bit off the boil towards the end of last season and seems to be a bit like that this year. Bruce is an absolute legend getting the best out of the likes of Boyd when you would think somebody like Brady would be a massive miss on the left. Bruce should be up there for manager of the season this year for what he's achieved for us.
Boyd's goal is here: http://www.goalsarena.org/en/video/...league/05-04-2014-hull-city-swansea-city.html {Excitable Spanish commentary
We read that Bruce , having loaned out Fryatt to Wednesday to regain match fitness and sharpness, has been impressed with him since his return to City and will probably retain him. I take Bruce's view over some angry bloke in Canada's (or Madrid) every time......
i'm a posh fan, george was a legend for us. I hope he plays. A lot of Posh fans will be Hull fans for the day because of him. I loved an earlier comment about his lack of pace. Someone pointed out that if he had pace he wouldn't be with hull. We used to say the same, but he has the quality and the ability to make something different happen and a lot of pacy players don't have that. i know it's a different level (premier League) and i have only seen highlight glimpses, but how's he been for you guys? PS I'm new to this site, be kind!
All in all, he's been a great signing and an utter bargain (250k?) Proved himself a worthy Premier League player this season.
Seems to me you are the angry guy Blampey. Do you only cast your insults in bold letters at people who disagree with you.? Seems like you believe the louder you shout the more you believe you are winning the argument...rather immature I would say. You must be a real pleasure to deal with in person. I'm very happy with how the team are playing under Bruce and in Bruce's judgement. I've also been impressed with Fryatt's play since he returned but he's not half the player George Boyd who is unquestionably Premier League quality. Matty is a good solid Championship striker.
George has been brilliant for us and he was an absolute steal at the price your management let him go for. He is not the fastest player on the field but he's fast enough to run past a few full backs we've faced and he has magic moves and ball control and puts in a good cross. Add to that his 100% effort every game and his covering back on defense and I'd have him in the starting line up. Wembley is made for him to shine against League One opposition. Could be our match winner on Sunday.
I think he will play, and he deserves to play, but I'm not sure it's the best plan to play him from the start. If you do, then Meyler probably has to drop out and he is just as vital. I've a horrible feeling he'll play five at the back, with Rosie dropped, and junior in. I hope not. Maybe the way to fit George in is to play him up front with Fryatt.
Against the weakest offence in LEAGUE ONE....14 goals in 20 away games...I think Bruce will go with 3 at the back (Rosie, Chester, and Davies) and 5 across the middle with George and Elmo on the wings. Sagbo and Fryatt or Aluko can play up front. WHY play 5 at the back against a team that can't even trouble League One defences. Doesn't make any sense. We need to get an early goal and really put the pressure on them.
If we play 3 at the back then Rosie won't be one of them. I know he's done it before when we've only had 2 centrebacks fit, but we've got 4 fit now, and Rosie's strength to the team is his pace out wide to deal with opposition wingers and to be able to switch with Elmo. Surely we're not going to give that up now to play a formation we haven't used in the entire time Bruce has been our manager.
I was also thinking the other day (doesn't happen often!) that George scored in non league for Steveanage and Leagues 2, 1 and the championship for us. He's scored in the premier league for you guys, there can't be too many players that have done that
