Its all meaningless. We're in the Playoffs and despite only one team out of four winning promotion, I think it will be us. We have a decent record in the Playoffs and remain, officially at least, undefeated in the annual competition. We're having a very decent season and with a win on Saturday against Forest and with Chazza getting back into the groove, we've got a bloody good chance of going all the way. I'm very confident in this team.
I frankly can't see us winning any of those last five, Eamon's 76 points is looking a tad optimistic and if any of the teams currently in the 60s puts a winning run together we might be going to Barnsley in desperation come the last game...
A team that can't win to save their lives and are in worse form than us? Surely you should know by now that that's a guaranteed loss!
Ok, I get it now. Thanks for clarifying I thought you were talking about 85 points with us currently on 70. Easy mistake I guess
It was sh*te. I didn't see the match but 1 shot on target speaks for itself. We're going through a rough patch and are decimated by injuries but I think a win and a good performance against Forest and things will look up once more. We need a couple of wins from our remaining games to instill a bit of confidence and I think we'll get them. We'll go into the Playoffs every bit as good as the other three so there's plenty to be positive about.
I think you're all counting your chickens prematurely when it comes to Forest. On their day thy are as good as any of the teams in this division. ****e form granted. But coming back from 3-0 down against Wednesday on Tuesday night may well see their spirits and fortunes revive spectacularly. They have a battle on their hands but still have something to play for. Given the consensus (which I agree with) that we probably have enough points banked already for us to drop 3 places, what exactly do we have to play for on Saturday. My point is that the players and Redknapp probably believe the same . Instead of players playing to secure a place in the team for the play offs, I can see us approaching this game with ambition to get a point out of it and not sustain any injuries. Attitude will be critical on Saturday. What honestly do we have to be optimistic about? There were times at Ewood Park when Blackburn played keepball with us chasing it half heartedly round the pitch. We have a goalie who is going through one of his wobbly spells, a centre forward who is not match fit, a creative player who is not creating at the moment because others won't make the runs to give him options, a manager with the motivational skills of a flea and a whole host of has beens who have thrown their toys out of the pram for the season because the rest of the division does not bow down to massage their egos. Sounds like a nailed on certainty to me. Mind you we do have Luke Young back. So that's alright then. We're sorted. Even though I couldn't work out who it was until I looked at the scoreboard. Has it really been that long?
Yorkie, you're beginning to become tiresome mate. "What honestly do we have to be optimistic about?" We're not heading into League One for a start. We're going into the playoffs instead. Oh and we're also ahead of the two other relegated teams who had squads more suited to this division from the outset. I hope that kind of negativity doesn't seep down onto the pitch this Saturday because I'm looking forward to it. (Its on Sky!)
Go to some games instead of ranting on the forum and you will stop talking utter rubbish. This is a distinctly average team that's playing crap at the moment. Blind faith most of the time (comments along the lines of "I honestly believe we'll win the play offs and really take the PL by storm next season") followed by your frequent outbursts when things go badly on the pitch really is tiresome. Negativity does not need to seep down from the fans, Redknapp has instilled that into them already. Comparing our position to that of Wigan and Reading is pointless. That is down to the first ten games of the season. It's current form that matters. And given that we were well clear at one point by grinding out results, no I'm not happy that we will scrape into the play-offs as the team out of form. The second half of the season has been a massive disappointment. I hope you enjoy the game and that we play well. I just can't be bothered as I haven't seen a good performance since Huddersfield away.
Ouch!!! You asked was there anything to be positive about and I answered you. You can't get away from the fact that we're going to be in the Playoffs and in with a shout of promotion instead of hurtling toward League One like many of us believed we would at the start of the season. "Form" is a bit of a toothless notion too. You could be stop start, win one lose one coming up to the end of the season or you could have put a run together like Bournemouth and it means diddly squat. Its what happens in the two-legged games that counts. Many teams have won the Playoffs despite stuttering toward the finish line. Whether we amassed more points at the beginning of the season or the end is irrelevant because the league season is judged after 46 games. We're there on merit. Do you think Middlesbrough should be shunted up into the top six by the Football League because despite being sh*t at the start of the season, it doesn't matter because they're playing well now? Wins at the end of a season should be worth 4 points and at the start they should only be worth two, eh? Besides, we've got five games left and Austin's getting fit. A win tomorrow and everything's back on track. We've got everything to play for and naysayers like you will not get in our way
I haven't commented on this thread yet. My prediction is we'll get between 77 and 80 points and finish 4th.
Nah bollox..with our squad we'll romp the league and finish top just tipping the 100 point mark. redknapp is a master and will set out the way to do things...
