Sorry if this is covered elsewhere but been googling like mad and can't get an answer. Under fa rules if a player accumilates 10 yellow cards by the second sunday in April he gets a two game ban. Stevie G is on 9 and we play on Sunday. Does this mean if he is booked against city he misses Norwich and Chelsea or do you have to have ten by the start of play to be banned in which case he can go in fully committed?
Good question- and one I'm sure Pellegrini is investigating... Stevie is now playing in a role where yellow cards are sometimes required of you. Still, would miss Gerrard if we couldn't use him for Chelsea game... but I don't think as much as we would have in previous seasons. Not having Stevie may require change of formation though.
that is my understanding as well. although saying that i think all the fuss made about him if he got a yellow was the city and chelsea games he would miss, not sure if it applies after that and for rest of the season, think it does, but not 100% sure.
I'm sure I heard that due to him not getting a yellow against West Ham he'll be OK for the season now. I'm pretty sure the commentators mentioned it - bit of an odd rule to get your head round though to be honest
If Gerarrd escapes a yellow card against City, by April 14 he is going to have a clean record. The record is going to be wiped out.
So if he gets a yellow against City (which is a strong possibility) he'll miss the Chelsea game? #confused
He has played more sensibly since being on that yellow card tight rope. I think it has done him some good being more cautious in the challenge.
The cut off date for 10 yellows is the 2nd Sunday in April (inclusive), so if he gets booked on Sunday he'd get a 2 game ban.
I know lots of people have said he's clear but this is the FA and I wouldn't trust them. The website says "CUT OFF DATES (Inclusive) 10 [cautions] 2nd Sunday in April" and "if they received ten cautions by the second Sunday in April, a ban would apply." Gerrard is still on the list of "One caution away" Steven Gerrard Liverpool 9 Manchester City (13/04/2014) Ramires Chelsea 9 Swansea City (13/04/2014) Phillip Bardsley Sunderland 9 Everton (12/04/2014) Gareth Barry Everton 9 Sunderland A. (12/04/2014) Cheik Tiote Newcastle United 9 Stoke City (12/04/2014)
The rules are plain and simple and you've just posted them straight off their website, so those who've said he's clear are simply wrong, it's not some FA conspiracy ffs
well expect some play acting from city then to get him booked as he will be key to our run in of games, if we was playing Chelsea though be a certain ****ing yellow, they flop more than tom daley does ffs. and tobes the rules may be clear but its the fa interpretation of the rules that is dodgy as **** ie spitting, elbows, etc dif rules for dif players.
If he gets a yellow against City he gets a two game ban, if he doesn't then his previous yellows get wiped out... Better than a 50% chance of getting a yellow against City me thinks... Shouldn't be a miss against Norwich (no disrespect) but maybe an issue against Chelsea, however, who knows, they may be distracted by the CL Semi's at the time..
You'd do the same if it was Toure, so would any side in the same situation, so be fair like. This issue isn't open to interpretation though mate, so the point is moot, it's a 'black and white' call here (waves at donga )
Why? Surely it's potentially extremely important to your title chances? As Gerrard's influence on and off the ball, would surely be key in a game of the potential magnitude of your home game against Chelsea?
We played pur best football when Gerrard was missing. Hendo, Allen and Lucas form a very good trio. They were behind the 5-0 win at WHL and the 4-0 win against your lot. I'd rather our Stevie wasn't suspended but if he gets that yellow then so be it
