The first half wasn't as bad as some performance we have watched OPP but there was some great confident passing second half It was good to win Lamb
Minxy - Well done and all the other Poshies . Second half you was class above, your passing and movement on/off the ball was some of the best i have seen this season. Only our keeper Stuart Nelson prevented it being a cricket score. That is not speaking detriment of my own teams ability but just the quality of the opposition. Can we have Payne back please and don't even think about trying to take Dack off us. If you get Rotherham in the playoffs please smash them for me. Lamby - the journey home was a little bit of a mare. There was an incident on the A15, hence once we got down it was closed and everyone had to turn around and head back towards Peterborough. We passed the supporters coaches on the way back through, I've no idea how they managed to turn around along such a narrow road. Then to add to our journey, the M11 junction 14 was closed, so we had to come off and rejoin at 13... Considering we were travelling by our own means (car), we done reasonably well but it certainly was not as easy has the journey up there.
Taylor doing a good job?...I suppose that is dependent on which Gills supporter you speak too. If you stand/sit on the terraces the you might get lynched for denouncing PT but i say as i see and i'm currently struggling to find the measure of difference between Martin Allen and Peter Taylor. I find the latter from a personal opinion a very negative manager. Also i'm not to happy that he constantly plays Barrett and sends Davies out on loan. Also has not played Hessy since his wonder goal. Would i be disappointed if PT's contract was not renewed in the summer, NO. Will it be renewed in the summer, probably. Who would i like to see come in, ain't got a clue.
Is there anyone out there available? Is there anyone else on your backroom staff that could step up, or would you rather have someone from outside of the club?
Need to start with a new fresh face, not going on the constant regurgitating the past. Just my opinion, a lot of Gills might not agree with me but then they never agreed with me over my youth v experience thread which came to fruit over time. As for money, only Scally knows the answer to that one. At least PT will be out of contract season end and MA's old contract would also have ended naturally if still at the club. So we shouldn't be tied to any contractual ties, hopefully.
The 2nd half showed what we are capable of (as did the Reading game), being critical of the 1st half (misplaced passes. poor 1st touch etc) shows the level of performance we have come to expect over the past few years. If we had played all our games as we did in the 1st half we would be in the lower part of mid-table, playing all our games as we did in the 2nd half would have put us alongside Wolves, and that is what has been so frustrating all season long.
You've got nothing to lose in the play offs though and if you can get to the final recent Wembley experience. Think you have a great chance. Question is would you struggle to stay up or is there money available in the summer?
Our current squad is not good enough for the Championship, we have enough players to put out a good mid-table Championship side, but lack that in depth. Also there are a number of key players out of contract at the end of the season. Grant McCann is at the end of his career, Tommy Rowe wants a move, Mark Little was only offered a one season deal after failing to get another club at the end of last season. Britt Assombalonga will go for big money at sometime, he is too good for League 1. If the majority of that money is used to bring in players then we would have a chance of staying up. Our biggest problem is funding wages under the new rules, especially with our poor fan base. As was shown this season, we are consistently missing out on good young players because we cannot compete with 'bigger' clubs to meet the players personal demands.
The financial benefits of being in the Championship are too good to pass up! Our Chairman wants us to be back in the Championship at the first time of asking then to consolidate and have a crack at getting in the play-offs in 3-4 years time.
Imagine going up and getting the Mackems next season. It will be fun on here LOL or of course you could face the cheating thieving pikeys again along with maybe a bunch of pussycats or trainspotters hehe
If Sunderland go down, and Millwall manage to stay up, things could be interesting on a couple of boards
