Rodney Marsh tweeted in July that if Hull City do not get relegated this season he will eat a photograph of his own hat. When does this event take place ?
He'll agree with the Allams to do it the day Hull City become Hull Tigers knowing Rod. I see the season ticket holders voted for the change of nname surprisingly. Have City Till We Die gone into full Drama Queen mode now?
Less than a third of the 15,000+ season ticket holders actually voted and of those that did it was 44%-43% yes-no with the other 13% not bothered. Hardly a resounding vote in favour. Rodney should eat 44% of his hat...
If people can't be bothered to vote that's their lookout. Who do you think will be 'consulted' on the new stadium - I guess ST holders and members, they'll be the one's the club has an email address for.
The vote was rigged, vote to change the name and the chairman won't walk or a no vote and Allem's would sell within 24 hours. No chance of name change going through, they would be "Melton tigers" within a few years as they have a beef with the council over not getting the ground. Well done CTID!
It was hardly a surprise, I was actually expecting it to be an outright majority went for yes, but thankfully they tried to be too clever by putting a "Not bothered" option on that to me hurt the Yes vote much more than the No vote. Fans were lied to through the media (BBC TV/Radio and the local paper) by the club about it bringing in significant financial benefits - as an example we were outright told that 2 sponsors had signed significant contracts that were subject to the name change going through. In a radio interview during the poll it was then confirmed that there hadn't been a single company speak to them about sponsoring a renamed team. Also in terms of honesty, after the FA announcement yesterday the club issued a statement saying there'd be no comment on the name change as we were focusing on the game on Sunday. Within 5 hours the owner had spoken to the BBC about his intention to appeal, and the manager and team captain had been quoted by several media sources having commented on it in a press conference rather than saying "it's nothing to do with me, move on". Through the same media, as well as SSN the owners threatened to walk away from the club within 24 hours if it was rejected. This obviously made fans **** themselves thinking we'd turn into the next Pompey - I won't bore you with the details, but the owners would never allow that to happen as THEY would lose too much as a result of doing it, but when their investment has been in the form of a loan all you get when you try to explain it is "they'll recall their loans and we'll be ****ed". When they were eventually asked about it, it was confirmed they didn't mean they'd do that, "we'll walk away within 24" hours was a "metaphor" for stopping running the club for the club, and starting to run the club for the shareholders. Again, they're taking advantage of supporters not understanding the finances at the club, to run it for the benefit of the shareholders they need to run the club for the benefit of the fans, there is no other option as the two things are one and the same. (we have virtually no assets, so they can't asset strip to get their loans back) We already knew the FA Committee had unanimously rejected the proposal (so the importance of our view was reduced) and that the results weren't going to form part of the submission ahead of today's vote. With the owners publicly stating that the poll wasn't about the name change, it was about whether fans wanted them to remain in charge a lot of people voted yes through fear of the perceived consequences of a No vote. That's without getting into the reports of sponsors getting 10 votes each, lots of season ticket holders not being told about the poll or being given details of how to vote, the dodgy pdf files that resulted in blank ballot forms being returned by a number of email voters, the fact we had to put our names, addresses, and season ticket numbers on our ballot forms before giving them to the club to look after until the independent adjudicators were appointed after the polls closed (It would be bad enough normally, but to do that when we're in the process of allocating Wembley tickets for the semi-final, and could have an FA Cup Final coming up it just promotes paranoia about what that information is going to be used for), or the ridiculously loaded question.
How do you think he made his fortune? He's obviously a megalomaniac in the Maxwell mould, remember the Thames Valley Royals that Cap'n Bob wanted to inflict on Oxford and Reading? Enjoy your success, it may be short-lived as Cardiff are proving. Bruce has done a brilliant job walking the tightrope between the owner and supporters...
