I would like to take this opportunity as we coast clear of the trapdoor, to thank Steves Lansdown and Cotterill for keeping us out of the death squad.

Cotterill was not everyone's choice of manager. Forest people were saying he had nothing between those great, flapping ears, and our sufferance would continue with up-and-under football.

    This has proved that
    Lansdown CAN get it right
Forest fans know less about football matters than they think they do
Our players are not as bad as we thought they were (well...at least some of them)

Of course its impossible to please everyone. One thing i've learned on here is that everyone has their favourite manager and also one they hate, Redprintt being the exception, but then that is his role in life.
    Rumplestiltskin of the third division.

Whilst im glad Cotterill has come in and stopped the boat from sinking.... we're still letting water in! This season (well since cotterill took over) was mainly about keeping us in league 1. It appears likely now that we will. My only worry is next season everyone will be expecting a promotion push and if cotts doesn't deliver, fans will be calling for his head and we could be in the same position again. I'm not going to lie.... I fully expect this club to be top 6 next season. We're bigger than league 1 and we should be fighting to go up. Of course its never that simple.

I'll give cotterill a clap for keeping us up (when its confirmed) but will reserve judgement on him being a success and Lansdown getting it "right" next season when the real challenge begins.

No one should be congratulated for anything until we're mathematically safe from relegation. Another 5 points should do it.

In a game of chance when employing managers, once in a while you'll get a good result. Lansdown and Dawe have got lucky so far compared to the previous choices they made, despite not making appointing Cotts in a proper fashion by advertising the job nationally/internationally in my opinion.

Our chances of success next season will be dependant on retaining the likes of Sam Baldock and another few key players but we should be better prepared to deal with this league, at least I'd hope so.

What I don't understand is that BCFC are 4 points above the relegation zone with a much better goal difference and you feel yourselves to be safe.

Meanwhile, BRFC are 4 points above the relegation zone with a much better goal difference, yet we feel by no means safe.

Are we over-pesimistic, or are you over-optimistic?

To be fair you're season has been inconsistent. Ours was terrible up until the end of February, which where we have now sorted ourselves out so fans are beginging to believe we will stay up, where as you haven't really had a decent run. Nobody has said we are safe, would be stupid to do so, we are though confident of surviving.

I think you're probably right Shiny. It's more about perceptions than actual league positions. If we beat Torquay on Saturday then I think we'll be ok. If we don't, and other results go against us, then I think we're probably ****ed. <grr>

Torquay are unfortunately doomed to going back to the conference which is a bit of a shame. I'd rather some horrible northern team or even better teams went in their place, or Portsmouth !
Rovers will live to fight another day and so will we in our respective crappy divisions
This time next year I sincerely hope we are not having the same conversation !!

It's not so much the points difference it's the amount of teams between you and the trap door. We have a few playing each other, you have 2 that's why your bottom is quaking ours is just twitching.
