    1) I have a lot of Bristol City footage so I might have it in my collection.

    2) ITV have produced a lot of THE BIG MATCH DVD's which do not include any Bristol City highlights
    but maybe in time

    3) I will be attending the ITV AGM in May,and I will be asking if ITV could produce a west country version of THE BIG MATCH DVD

    4) At the meeting I will be asking if they could show some 1960's and 1970's stuff on ITV4

    5) If I could get one match highlight it would be WBA v City from March 1976 when we won a mid week match 1-0

and got battered for the entire ninty minutes.Talk about ALAMO.

I'd like to see film footage of the BCFC team bus perilously balanced on the edge of a precipice, just like the closing minutes of the Italian Job.

You could have El Abd sliding down the floor of the bus as the whole thing tilts dangerously over the yawning chasm as Cottrell looks up and says 'I've got a great idea....'

Was that when WBA had what appeared to look like all the open end? I remember being a teenager when we played WBA in an absolutely jam packed Gate. I think Bryan Robson was playing for them then? One of the biggest crowds I have ever been in at home...that and when we played Spurs.

What about the game at Arsenal when the cheese popped up and that winner when in, or when we beat Man Utd <yikes>
Those were proper games,oh we can only wish at present.

What a night that was! Sweeney scored just before half time at the Brummie Road end and then Albion battered us for the whole of the second half without any success.
A couple of weeks later we went one up at league leaders Sunderland, only for them to get a very late equaliser.
Both were midweek games as we played fixture catch up following a flu bug which virtually shut the club down for a while in February (?).

I know there is some film of the FA Cup 4th round v Rovers in 1957 when we were losing 1-3, got back too 3-3, only for Rovers legend Geoff Bradford to get a disputed (offside?) winner.
So many memories in sixty five seasons. One day I will recount them on here and bore everyone to death!

For me it was the replay. I was 13 at the time and I know that Donnie Gillies winner is on You Tube (as are the goals from the first game at the Gate)

It was, and I still believe that if we'd had a full strength side when we played Liverpool (I seem to recall Merrick didn't play, or maybe Collier?) and had beaten them, we would have won the cup that year

If having beaten Leeds AND Liverpool in their prime, I think we would certainly have been in with a shout. They were the 2 best club sides in England throughout the 70s (with apologies to the Arsenal).

    Problems are
    a) we looked second best all over the pitch against Liverpool on the day, and it was only a matter of time before they scored. They were just about worthy of their 0-1 on the day.

    b) Leicester/Burnley and Newcastle (with Malcolm McDonald) were left in it, and 2 more pumped up teams were lying in wait. But of course when you get to the last 2 rounds anything can happen.

Its a testament to our wonderful team of back then that I can say that. Leeds Utd were on an unbeaten 29 match run that saw them romp home to their second title in Revie's final season, and so to beat the league Champions deservedly on their own turf and then go head to head with Europe's club team-of-the-decade illustrates just what Alan Dicks actually achieved here in BS3.
