This is what makes me laugh with the win stats, AVB took over a top quality squad, even without Modric and then selling Rafa it still had quality. To NOT have had a good win % would've been very worrying. Same goes for Sherwood.

Harry and Jol took over when nothing was expected and built the platforms to what we're seeing today.

Although it's in the past and I don't like bringing the past up (much :D) but I still believe had Harry stayed in charge we'd be in a much better position.

"I don't hate Sherwood, or anything. I do feel it was a bad mistake to throw a completely inexperienced manager
into the deep end of the Premiership shark pool, however."

Credit to him that he has stepped up.
However I still consider him to be a chancer who has seen a possible financial/career win-win
    and gone for it.

Some managers are just a a good fit or a perfect fit, when you think of the premier league era and managers that sum up this club, the personality and style of football ,you think of Jol & Redknapp. You won't be sat here in 20 years saying "do you remember Avb's win rate, what a legend" !

Its more then win rate, its the style, the taking risks, the excitement and personality of the team and thats why as much as I can see Sherwood has flaws, you sense he does understand this club more then Avb so you want him to succeed but it looks as if the job came far too early for him.

  5. If Sherwood can galvanise this side to win their remaining 5 fixtures, he may save his job, and I'd be prepared to give him next season to show that he's learned some lessons, especially with regard to how he sets himself up against the stronger sides. Also, the pre-season should give him a chance to work on our mis-firing new purchases and to integrate them into the squad.

However, I have my doubts that he'll be able to do enough either to convince Levy or the hardcore of fans who have been calling for his head from day one.

Think it will be the gobbiness that will cost him (which would be a first) .
And seeking that alleged payoff if sacked.

Gary Neville has called the Sky Sports News story about Sherwood being sacked at the end of the season "media terrorism". On Sky Sports.
Someone else might be getting the sack soon, too...

I saw that and the presenters face was a picture... (umm, you can't say that Gary!). He's gone up in my estimations after that. Great remark. Bet Murdoch's delighted :emoticon-0105-wink:

When did he do that? I didn't hear him say it on MNF but I might've missed it. Carragher and Neville did a much better job of approaching the issue rationally than the ever unbiased Jamie Redknapp though.

I like Sherwood too but he's a very inexperienced manager and it shows. He's not going to get another season and with good reason.

We've been poor in the league ever since the Palace match with only our last 2 home games where we've actually played well. For every game we've done well in there's been another 2 where he's got it all wrong and we've either dropped points or sneaked a fortunate win. His league record might be a little bit better than AVB's but his cup record of 6 played, 4 lost, 1 drawn and 1 won tells a totally different story. Even in the win we were drawing until the Dnipro player decided to get himself sent off.

But it would have been nice to repay him by retaining him with a longer-term aim
of nuturing him as manager from within (should be the long-term vision of the DOF anyway IMHO) .
For whatever reasons, it seems Timmy will be out of the door come the summer.

Tim himself said he didn't want anything but the manager job when he was in charge temporarily

Not a smart thing to say (if true) . Especially if results don't go your way.

Why not? It was a gamble that worked out perfectly for him. He's gone from a nobody (who the f**k outside of spurs had heard of him really?) to a manager of a top 6 club in the best league in the world . If you sack him he will have proved himself enough for a permanent managerial role at any of the clubs in the bottom half of the PL, especially at the rate they're going through managers these days.

He was the captain of a premier league winning team. You've never heard of him? ;)
