Good news!

Wonderful speculation/rumour, Colin Kolles may be fronting a bid from Dacia!

Not quite the fancy car brands Bernie wants.

So it's going to borrow 6 year old designs from Renault and use them?

I think the Dacia thing is media bull. Kolles has backing from Romania and the media put 2 and 77 together and automatically associate Dacia. I mean come on?... Dacia in F1? <laugh>

NASCAR’s Gene Haas pushing ahead with F1 entry

The chances of an American team hitting the F1 grid in 2015 continue as NASCAR team co-owner Gene Haas continues to meet FIA deadlines.
As the governing body look to fill the vacant 12th spot on the F1 grid, left by HRT after 2012, Haas’ interest has been the most talked about among the motorsport community.
F1 chief Bernie Ecclestone has continually dismissed the American’s bid believing the Californian wouldn’t be willing to invest the sort of money needed to compete in the sport.
“He doesn’t think we will get the license,” Haas responded, “so my chances probably aren’t that great of a shot.”
But that is not stopping him from continuing along the process that could lead to an eventual entry.
According to Autosprint Haas will meet a February 10 deadline set by the FIA for applicants of which one of the requirements is to demonstrate the group has the financial ability and willingness to compete with an adequate budget.
If successful it is rumoured, again by Autosprint, that Haas would field a Dallara designed chassis with a Ferrari power unit starting from 2015.
“We look forward to future developments,” Autosprint’s Alberto Antonini added.

Why is Ecclestone apparently against this idea? I thought he'd love the idea of an American team. I suppose there must be another team paying 'not a bribe' to Ecclestone for his support?
Interested to see how this develops anyway <ok>

Dallara!

So its going to be an HRT with Ferrari power.

And I agree BLS, why is Bernie being so negative. not just to this. He has become so negative to everything recently.

He's got something against the idea of a U.S.. team, I'm convinced of it. He trashed USF1 to the point that nobody was ever going to invest in it.

I still think a new team should be allowed to use and existing chassis and engine from the grid for the first year or so whilst they get their infrastructure in place, even if it is restricted to the previous years equipment: EG. a 2015 entrant would be able to use a 2014 spec car - I would argue that it should be made available by the winning constructor and paid for or at least subsidized. In return the new entrant would not qualify for constructor points until they converted to their own chassis etc... with a time limit of maybe 2 seasons.

HAAS are currently making their proposal to the FIA to get entry into next years championship. Some rumoured details:

- Ferrari engine
- Dallara Chassis
- HQ in Charlotte North Carolina. (The same place as USF1??)
- Factory and operations based in the UK
- The plan is to pair experience with new talent to drive their cars
- The teams budget is to be set around 100 million euros / season

FIA set to give American team green light for '15

The Formula 1 grid looks set to expand to 12 teams in 2015 with the addition of an American-led outfit. The FIA opened up a tender process to find a new team back in January and it's believed three applicants showed an interest. However it's believed Gene Haas, co-owner of the Stewart-Haas NASCAR team, will be chosen as the most viable candidate with an official announcement expected on Friday. Haas has already held meetings with FIA president Jean Todt to discuss the proposal and has an agreement in place with Italy's Dallara to build an F1 chassis. It was rumoured that an American manufacturer, possibly Ford, was interested in rebranding a Cosworth V6 engine - which has been designed, but not built - to run in the back of an American team, but that now seems unlikely considering Haas has already met with Ferrari to agree a deal to use its power unit. The Stewart-Haas team recently expanded its facilities in Charlotte, where it's believed the team would be based. A second European base would likely be set up in Brussels where he owns a facility which has access to a full-scale windtunnel. The FIA is due to announce its final decision on Friday, and it could possibly include a second team as the regulations allow for a maximum of 13 teams.

Thats great news, however I could imagine that the front teams will end up with the best power units and the lower/smaller teams with the weaker ones.

Well a thought that popped into my head is I thought Honda was exclusive to McLaren but if this is not the case, Maybe Red bull may have a chance here? Honda also have their new base in Milton Keynes

Spooky, I suggested a Ford/Cosworth revival earlier without knowing about that story.

Tomorrow's lottery numbers are 6, 10, 11, 23, 26, 45

I can see RB going for either McLaren's Merc allocation or being the 2nd supply for Honda - I think Honda would prefer two big name teams.

Dunno, I think Mercedes board would still block an engine deal for Red Bull, knowing that they will likeyl get caned on the track if RB had a decent powerpack.

Politics and boardrooms will intervene. Mercedes factory team should be the best Mercedes powered team.

True, so that equates to Honda for RB then with Mclaren and maybe Merc not supplying another team? Unless RB want to be the only supplied team by Cosworth, after all they like to be special!
