If KD turned round tomorrow and said I have changed my mind you can have him back for 10 million I would say no thanks. Niall Quinn deserves a huge pat on the back for getting best part of 20 million for an at best very average prem player, forward passing very poor, awareness of others very poor, cant tackle, dead ball delivery very poor in fact if you take away his good levels of energy he dosn't bring much to the table. If we are about to sign Larsson as all the press seem to say we have already strenthend our squad with the departure of Henderson and our new arrival
I've never heard so much tripe in all my life. I have personal dealings with Henderson and I can tell you he never ever wanted to stay. Too busy wrapped up in a life of shagging birds and getting money, he's a typical mercenary footballer and his move to LFC shows exactly that. On top of that, his Ronaldo-esque im-better-than-you attitude makes me and many others who know the "true" Henderson want to punch the guy right in the snotter. The lads an average footballer, with a big ego. Plus, "we allowed his head to be turned". What ****ing planet are you on.
HA so you dismiss Cest's post and then say "oh no my testimoney is better"? In that case how come on TV Jordan says leaving SAFC was the hardest thing he ever had to do, and everyone who worked with him says what a pro he is in his attitude (e.g. no partying or "shagging birds"). Plus LFC offered 4 times his wages with us, can you honestly say you wouldn't be at least tempted to go to a club fighting to get into CL and offering you £80k per week? What planet are you on? You talk absolute rubbish.
Finished painting your fingernails now sweetheart? That description of the lad is about as far removed from reality as your illiterate ramblings are to something worth taking seriously. Henderson would still be a Sunderland player if the club had said no to Liverpool. FACT. That they decided to 'cash' in on the lad allowed him to make an easy decision. If one club doesn’t want you and a resurgent Liverpool do, then its goodnight and giveowwa. If you disagree, fair do but my planet reality seems a much better place to live, than your fairytale planet does at this moment.
I have to say I dont know Henderson, his family, his mates, schoolteacher or the midwife who delivered him so can only give my honest opinion based on what I have seen, read and heard. I think he seems a nice young lad, not a party animal, maybe enjoys his leg over and I promise at his age I did, may have some ego, I would, loves Sunderland, I do, maybe a little scared about moving to Liverpool, leaving his family, I would be, but excited about it and career wise sees at to be a good move, I would, fancies a big pay rise, I would. I dont blame him, the club, the management, Liverpool or his milkman, its life.
Syd - he has a long time girlfriend from school days and is about as much a party animal as Mother Theressa. He is a committed young professional footballer, who was a credit to this club. That some 'fans' are happy to rubbish the lad now he has been sold (not asked for a transfer) is truly pathetic IMO.
I don't often disagree with you Cest, but for me, when he bottled not 1 but 2 derbies, and it wasn't a bad show, it was hiding from the ball and not getting stuck in, this is the point when i start to think 'is he all that...'. A good player, and potentially a very good player, but if i had a wonderful business, and someone offered me twice it's worth, i'd sell up. I maintain that the figure was so grossly excessive, that the club HAD to sell, if he'd had another season like last, we'd have all been spitting **** about how he should have went, and we'd have been looking at £6million tops. We will be a better side with Larsson right midfield, and there's the little sweetener for a big target of the number 10 shirt, not to be underestimated.
BB - I'm not questioning that 19m for JH is a lot of money. If that’s what the club have decided to cash in on then fine. However, as I have maintained all along, he is only 20 years old and has barely 80 games to his name. He has performed exceptionally in some, averagely in other and poorly is some as well. That is only to be accepted as he is a young lad learning his trade still. He had the whole of the clubs fortunes heaped on his shoulders for most of last year and I'd love to have seen Stevie Gerard thrust into an underperforming team at 20 and see how he was slaughtered? I think we have sent out the wrong signals with his sale and it may have repercussions for the future, in our attempts to sign replacements IMO. I get annoyed when fans now berate the lad and try and make it out like he engineered the move when he didn’t at all. The club cashed in on an offer they received from Liverpool. It’s not the lad who left SAFC. SAFC left him. I hope he does very well and goes on to have the career I think he is capable of. My big regret is it won’t be in a Sunderland shirt.
A good, balanced viewpoint. While I would like to have seen him stay longer - being a local lad - £16 million seemed like a good deal to me. He's got promise, but is far from the finished article and the money can be re-invested in the team. If we get Larsson as a replacement (direct or not) it seems an even better deal. Good luck to the lad - whether he had his head turned, quadrupled his wages or wants to party every night and shag everything in sight is pretty irrelevent as far as I'm concerned. As long as the money is re-invested into strengthening the team. We all want to play for our home town team but this is football in the modern age !
I absolutely take your point on Cest, and i said before we sold him 'what message does it send out...'. He WASN'T the best player in the side, but the press had bigged him up to a level where people who don't watch the lads certainly think he was, indeed, the press 'wonder by' tag weighed heavily, and was even used as a stick to beat us with at points. He didn't fight to stay though mate, i met Jordan 2 or 3 times, and he seemed a canny enough kid, and level headed enough, but ican't agree that had Liverpool made the bid, and we stoutly rejected it, that Jordan would have shrugged it off. Personal terms were dusted in 2 hours, his desire to play for the lads plainly wasn't as strong as we'd like to think of a Sunderland boy, and, apologies for harping back to it, the club got a magnificent deal. Sess cost us £6million, and he is a magnificently gifted footballer. Ben Arfa cost the Mags £5.5million. Eden Hazard is expected to go for around £18million. The club HAD to sell for £20 million mate, i don't think it makes us look a selling club, i think anyone who knows the first thing about football will think '****ing hell, they did well there...' If we'd caved in at £13million, different basket altogether.
You can still have a LT GF and shag around. I know he has done for a fact, you can continue to live in the world where everything and everyone is nice and nothing bad ever happens including cheating on your missus, I'll live in reality. TBF he parties as much as any other 19 year old would, but COMMITTED? Haha don't make me laugh. The only thing he's committed to is earning a pretty penny, he certainly wouldn't have left if he was committed. He was about as committed to SAFC as he was to tackling an oncoming player. I gotta agree he was a credit to the club. Credit to the sum of £20m for an average footballer. Cestria...you used to have mine and others respect. Your attitude and the way you've conducted yourself since the sale of JH has sullied your name and respect forever IMO. The lad certainly wouldnt stick up for you in face of substantial criticism...why are you for him? EDIT: Just to reply to other comments by yourself. You are annoyed how fans berate him now he is gone. Myself and others have voiced our opinions on him since well before christmas. We are not berating him now he is gone, and if someone brings up a thread on JHs future, it will involve discussion between those like yourself and those like me. Gotta learn to deal with that my friend.
Got to say we do this to all players that leave except maybe Murphy who actually got some praise on the other 606 probably because everyone knew he was total ****e. Henderson was sold in my opinion to balance the books not sure you can blame him or point the finger at him for wanting to better himself who doesn't want better money, job or prospects? Lets face it lads we got a very good price for him so lets hope that money is put to good use and not put in somebodies back pocket for future reference. Henderson hasn't let us or the club down as said on an earlier thread he hasn't played that much for us that we become attached to him. In previous seasons there is only one player who has sold us down the river and even with him we'll never really know why he went or, better still why no replacement was brought in.
