The only thing i can fault in this is possession stat, it is the most meaningless stat in football. I hate statistics, they can give you a very skewed view of a game (not this one by the way). It`s like a stat saying a team had 17 shots on goal, 15 on target, the bit they don`t tell you is 14 of the 15 on target were from 50 yards out and bounced twice before reaching the keeper!

No just correcting him for saying we need 2 goals. I know we're underdogs, but despite all there possession tonight we had the better chances and had a goal wrongly ruled out for a 'high foot'

It will be a big ask in Germany, but who knows, it's not impossible

Why not, everyone was expecting them to batter us 4 or 5-0 yesterday.

A lot of bitter Arsenal fans on their board saying that we will lose next wednesday, that 9 years without a trophy is taking its toll on them.

I wasn't. I expected a 2-1 Bayern win. I knew Man Utd would score at OT. I also knew it would occur as a set-piece. My issue was with Man Utd scoring in open play. In retrospect. United did better than I expected but they'll have to raise their game once again in Germany. I expect that to finish 3-1 to Bayern. Once again I expect Man Utd to score from a set-piece (in this case a Rooney free-kick!) <cheers>

Unlikely, but you have to be in it to win it.

Your bitterness about United playing the best in Europe while you twiddle your thumbs is palpable

How do we fancy our chances tonight then?

Very tough and hard to know how to play it. We might be better keeping it tight and trying to get to the last 30 minutes or so and try and get 2 to nick it on the away goal rule. If the game ends up open we could be killed off by an away goal or 2 on the counter.

I think we'll give it a go but can see a 2-1 win and out.

Hopefully we get the early goal, unlike them in Paris last week, if we go ahead we won't panic and give the momentum back.

Heart says 2-0, head says 3-1 and extra time.

Another famous night at the Bridge I hope.

I can see PSG winning this one, I just feel they are a stronger side man for man, and with Ibra out will be perfectly set up to counter attack, with the lightning quick Lucas likely to replace him and play on the right, with Cavani moving to the middle.

Defenders like Terry and Ivanovic are effective in a park the bus system, with a deep defensive line, like Chelsea normally play, but when you have to force the game and push up the field, PSG will expose the space in behind, and I can see this turning into a dominant aggregate victory for PSG

We haven't parked the bus this season and still have comfortably the best defence in the division. They're the best in the league, no matter what system is. Pushed up the field to win a game at City and kept a clean sheet at the same time so there is every chance we can do it again.

With that said i do think we'll get knocked out, but win on the night. Hopefully this goes the same way as Napoli and our big players step up!

You park the bus pretty much every game, and try to stifle the opposition, and nick the game 1-0 or 2-0, even against the weaker sides. You didn't push up the field against City, you played your normal way, just City played into your hands by playing De Michealis in midfield to replace Fernandinho. Had Fernadinho been fit, there is no way you'd have won that game.

AVB tried to adopt a high line when he was there and players like Terry and Ivanovic couldn't handle it. Terry is a top defender when the games infront of him, but he can't cope when through balls are played behind him into space as he's placeless. That's why you always have played a deep line with him in the team, apart from the brief time AVB was there:biggrin:

I'm unsure what Chelsea team you've been watching this season....or if you've watched us at all? Park the bus pretty much every game? If we can park the bus against Arsenal and still put 6 past them then we're an awful lot better than i thought. We've scored 65 goals mate, virtually two a game in the league and that's without a world class striker. You don't score that many if you park the bus.

What i've given you is a fact, you just give me a pointless opinion. I couldn't give a **** that Fernandinho didn't play. We won, that's all there is to it.

As for AVB, you play to a teams strengths, he didn't do that, which is why he got sacked.

More absolute bollox from Shergar. Park the bus every game? Behave. We didn't park the bus when we battered Galatasaray, United, Arsenal and Spurs at home, outplayed City on their own pitch and Liverpool at home.

Big difference between parking the bus and letting a side come on to you so you can counter. I'd try and explain the difference but I think it would go way over your head.

No need get your nickers in a twist and start swearing. Yeah you scored 6 against Arsenal who had 10 men for 80 mins. The first time a Mourinho Chelsea side has ever scored 6. Can you name me another time this season when you've won by a big score line? You cannot say you don't park the bus on the evidence of 1 game when you had a man extra for 80 mins of it.

Mourinho has always approached games with a defensive negative approach which is part of the reason your strikers suffer, even in his first spell you never seen the best of Drogba, hence the signing of Shevchenko, but it wasn't Drogba who was the problem, it was Mourinho's negative tactics that don't allow your centre forward to shine. And it was Carlo Ancelotti who eventually got the best out of Drogba, by playing a more expansive system with 2 up top

We beat Stoke 3-0 at the weekend....maybe you want the 4-0 against Spurs? What about the 3 we put past you lost? Even conceded in that game, bus probably wasn't big enough. What about the 4-3 at Sunderland, bus had a shocker then. We went to Southampton and beat them 3-0 earlier in the season.....enough games to prove my point.
As for the Arsenal game, they were dead and buried before the sending off.

Mourinho is a defensive manager yes but to say he parks the bus is most certainly wrong. His record speaks for itself, if something isn't broken then it can't be fixed and whilst we're so good at the back we'll win an awful lot more games than we lose.

Why did you only focus on the Arsenal game when I gave you countless examples to disprove your nonsense? In any event, against Arsenal we were practically 3-0 up by the time the sending off made any difference so it's hardly liked we only scored cos we had the extra man.

Jose is more defensive minded than some without a doubt but to lazily label it as parking the bus is ridiculous, but then I think you know that.

I think you'll find that Jose played 2 up front when we signed Sheva and we ended up losing the title because of it. Carlo played 1 up top with 2 wingers (normally malouda and anelka)

Drog's best season was 06/7 under Jose.

His second best was under Carlo playing one his own up front with Anelka and malouda supporting

It is still parking the bus, regardless of how you want to dress it up, and scoring 3 goals is hardly a big score line. Compare the goals you have scored to the sides around you and you will see the point I'm making:biggrin:
