or Only chance - most likely for many more years. I cannot help but think Spuds recent UEFA CL adventure and Pool's current situation. Pool, Will most likely sell their price asset Suarez. Will fade faster like Swans / Toons - when they play in Europe. This is it, they should have the most pressure. But if they think they are mid table club and CL place is beyond their means - they should be happy and have no pressure for the title run in. Just saying, what say blues ?
I don't think they will fade. They're still what everybody considers a "big" club despite not being in Europe for a few seasons so that will only make them a more attractive proposition for players. They will definitely find it more difficult next season with midweek games but i imagine they'll add to their squad, which doesn't have much depth!
Thanks for your insight Mystic Meg Our aim this season was to get in CL and we kick on from there. Anything more is a bonus You have to rem we dont have the cash like the two clubs we're competing with and still holding our own #specialclub
Liverpool are going as well as anyone else, and are quite capable of winning, though no certainties. Even the most ardent hater must concede Rogers has done a brilliant job. No reason they won't be a force next season, which would make their supporters intollerable !!!
Manager of the year for me, taking Liverpool from where they were to where they are in such a short period. Tactically spot on and probably the best man manager in the league. If Liverpool were to win the league, I'm not sure such a feat has every been achieved in a season - without spending shed loads of cash? Tony Pullis also deserves a mention for managing to turn the Palace situation around.
Yep, credit to both managers. Palace outplayed us twice home and away. And Jose's tea boy has done very well to take advantage of SAS's form and no cup games to concentrate on the league. Rodgers has also shown the tactical flexibility to change his tikka takka philosophy to direct football using Gerrard's long passes. Wenger would not have done that and abandoned his philosophy after one season. Rodgers is not stubborn like Arsene and has adapted to the players he has (in a Jose-like way) and played to his team's strengths
Rodgers also has so many formations that he'll frequently change during games, and usually the mid game change means we go on to win if we were struggling, the latest example being West Ham - a quick switch from 4-3-3 to a 4-4-2 diamond completely switched the game into us controlling it. He's now got a team of players that can play in multiple positions and multiple formations at a very high standard. A lot of managers lack any kind of real thought out plan B, let alone a plan C or D! I'll use Sterling as an example - everyone (even me) thought he was simply a winger, and people were boxing him off into the 'Lennon or SWP' category. Sterling now plays on the wing, as a number 10 (brilliantly), he's been played as a RB a few times (also performed brilliantly). So now we have this young lad that is confident and competent in a number of positions - under other management he'd still strictly be a winger. That's just one player, I could use so many more to clarify the point further. So trying to put my bias aside, at this current time I would have him over any other manager in the league. I just hope he hurries up and signs a new deal in the summer!! Jose may be more defensively astute, but for me Rodgers has the whole package and is a breath of fresh air to the PL.
You have every right to be pleased with Brendan and regardless of who wins the league he should be manager of the year for me. However he has A LOT to do before he can be considered in Jose's class. Remember Jose has won titles in 4 different leagues and the C.L with 2 unfancied sides. Rogers has yet to prove he can successfully juggle multiple competitions either; Liverpool have undoubtedly benefitted from nothing else other than the league to play for which wont be the case next year. He's done a great job this year though.
I agree, Rodgers has done a fantastic job but yes he still has a long way to go, it's been a great start for him but he will have to improve the squad quality and size to compete in the Champions League next season (if we get in). I don't see it as a problem though and am confident that we will continue to do well, how well is the big question.
Think the most impressive thing about Rodgers is how he's brought the best out of Sturridge, Flanagan, Sterling and the like whilst also driving established players like Gerrard and Suarez to higher levels. Ironically he's exactly the sort of manager now that you'd want to replace Jose with eventually?
If he as successful as this season for a number of years, challenging on duplicate fronts, then yes. He can come home
so many ****ing bitters. It's always the plastics that are the most bitter. True footie fans just accept that we've done well this season without all the hate - we've got where we are through good football, what is to hate about that?"wah penalties, wah saurez, no cup games, blah blah blah"
Just a bit of banter. Other fans... United Arsenal even Spuds take it as such. With you guys it is 'hate'... You are not the chelsea board, enjoy the banter, or don't visit it
No mate, you don't get it. Rule No. 1 of the kopite manual - when they do it, it's 'banter', when anyone else does it, it's 'bitter'.
Thanks Tobes. Many have a herd mentality see their Jose loses again thread on the prem board Master Y can think out of the box. The rest are just Suarez is better than messi etc
