Levy got Hoddle, pleat, santini, ramos, avb and sherwood wrong...in 11 years...and only 2 right...1 in 4 success rate...who else has got it so wrong?

Staying with levy choosing our managers because you or I dont know a person seems short sighted.

I have said levy should remain our chairman...but he fails 3 times in 4 when choosing a manager...and it was he that sacked the 2 successful ones...so with such a poor record he should be stopped from choosing them... and sacking them

It seems to me that, depending on the hierarchy that we will use from next season, that a competent DOF should possibly be in charge of managerial appointments. It seems that there is some doubt over Baldini's competence, however.

Everyone and his brother has been sure Sherwood will go at the end of the year barring a miracle. The news seems more like hype for today's game, as it's exactly the sort of thing a club wouldn't want to confirm until the end of the season. It's kind of like saying the earth will continue to revolve around the sun next year. Everyone knows it's true, but it's not news, and whether it's the result of "inside information" is beside the point.

AVB not getting sacked is certainly an interesting what-if right now. Would we have continued the (debatable) progress towards playing more entertaining football? Would we still be in one or more cups? Would we have gotten more points (to keep us in the race for fourth) or fewer? I don't have the answers, but I am feeling less and less sympathy for Sherwood for one reason only, his stubbornness about playing a high line. His early games we sat back more and did better, in the league at least.

Call me a cock-eyed optimist, but I don't see failure as inevitable for Tottenham, merely a distinct possibility. Okay, probability. Things tend to happen to Spurs, and while there does seem to be a snake-bit quality to our luck, there have been a lot of good things to go with the bad, and the overall pattern is a rollercoaster ride. While you can always go farther down, a sudden climb would be at least as much in keeping with the pattern. Everything has gone wrong since Harry for England, but up until then everything went right for a while--and before that there was lasagnagate. So nothing that will happen, however spectacularly bad or good, is very likely to shock me.

Sherwood under no pressure will now relax tell the lads to go out there and enjoy themselves thereby producing the Spurs performance of the season.

If this leak is true then Sherwood is being treated very poorly...

If they dont want him simply sack him...stop toying with him like a cat with a mouse.

Sometimes I think Spurs need another Eddie Baily in the dressing room telling them to bloody wake up and "ok lads, over the top and at 'em"! Perhaps we did today even though Sunderland were piss poor.
Mind you,at half time I was glad we weren't playing City!

The irony will be you qualify for CL at the expense of Arsenal and sack the manager that does it.

Very odd time for the news to come out about Sherwood departing, why not just wait until the end of the season to let SSN know he'll be off.

Apparently Sherwood (rightfully) had a go at someone in the crowd last night as they were shouting abuse at our own Spurs players to which Sherwood said to them "support the team, moaning won't help" and the fan supposedly replied saying you won't be here next season to which Sherwood laughed and nodded too. So looks like he may be leaving the club altogether and won't be reprising his former or another role.

I have to say I quite like Sherwood. He seems to say it like it is and the players clearly respect him, and he's getting the best out of a few of them. Plus you're doing OK under him. Kind of think in the grand scheme of things, giving him next year would be sensible. He's young too, unlike granddad van gaal.

Some people are nobs. Sherwood has done ok, admittedly i think he is a bit out of his depth and might well have benefitted from a job or 2 in lower divisions before the "big one", but he doesn't deserve to be mocked or derided imo. Losing the job, as it appears he will, must hurt.

Yeah agree, the problem for Tim is that he started off superbly, got something like 7 wins out of 10 but then I think his main downfall came from switching formations and personnel too much plus I also feel his over-reliance on Bentaleb became a detriment to the side. Bentaleb looks a real prospect but to be chucking him in against the likes of City's, Arsenal's and Chelsea's midfields with only a handful of appearances behind him, was too big of an ask and it showed.

I'd love it if Sherwood could work with the new manager, though looks very unlikely now, I'm sure that in X amount of years time, Sherwood could well be a very good gaffer. It's just ultimately, taking this job with no experience is just too big of an ask.

That is STATs of the highest order. :D
It does put into context though how Arry inherited and built upon the
squad assembled during the time of BMJ, and took it to the next level.

I would agree with those who say that giving Sherwood the job was too big an ask. He may well, in time, turn out to be a good manager. However, the club needs a steady experienced hand at the moment. Just like when Harry came in, it needs somebody with an older, wiser, more experienced head to put things back on track.

I don't hate Sherwood, or anything. I do feel it was a bad mistake to throw a completely inexperienced manager into the deep end of the Premiership shark pool, however.

LOL Nice try Power! ....didn't you say AVB was our best manager ever? Sherwood is now the best spurs manager ever, if we stick by your view on win rate, Sherwood says it himself!

    http://www.theguardian.com/football/2014/apr/08/tim-sherwood-tottenham-hotspur-premier-league

.......Of course if Avb was able to last four years or if Sherwood somehow managed to stay for four years, their win rate would decrease and likely be on par with Jol, leaving one stand out manager in the premier league era!..Although Jol would still deserve more credit then Avb & Sherwood due to him starting the process and thats why even with Jols win rate at 50% and Avbs at 61%, Jol done more for this club then Avb.
