It wasn't through lack of trying on our part tbf. Coentrao wanted it too. But Real/Ancelotti played silly buggers. I don't really like the idea of loaning players, but I would have taken that.

If we buy Kroos and Carvalho, which midfield players do you see us selling? At the moment we have Carrick, Fellaini, Fletcher, Cleverley, Giggs, and Anderson to come back. We surely can't have all these players on the wage bill, who are never gonna play

If you buy Carvalho the Fellaini signing looks even more weird. I can't imagine a Fellaini + Carvalho midfield dominating... <laugh>

Anderson is gone, Giggs could go to a full time coaching role.

Carrick to step aside as a first choice player due to his age and lack of mobility.

First choice midfielders would be Kroos, Carvalho and Fellaini. Cleverley in reserve as hes home grown. No other reason hes at United.

Got some youngsters coming back from loan as well havent we?

    What about Fletcher?

If we got those 2 players, then surely we'd have to let him go. He's been a good player for us, but maybe his time with us is up, he's the wrong side of 30, and he's struggled to regularly get back into the first team since his return:biggrin:

Tough one. After all the work hes done to get back some level of fitness it seems unfair to toss him aside but if he wants games then he will have to go elsewhere.

I don't know how others feel, but Fellaini is simply not a United player. It was a massive backward move buying him and I'm giving Moyes the benefit of the doubt here in saying it was a panic buy. The only other 2 players we need to consider are Carrick and Cleverly and if we look to the past, we've always needed squad depth in midfield and that's all these players should be. If we buy anything less than 2 m/f (creative central midfielder and a defensive midfielder) as well as a LB, I'll be disappointed. All this talk of rebuilding the side is exaggerated, we're really not that far off getting back to Top 4 and even challenging. In fact, the bigger concern is Moyes stepping up and adapting his game.

I'm okay with this, as long as any replacement we bring in does hinder any moves for a central midfielder.

I can't remember the exact quote but I'm pretty sure Moyes as much as admitted it was a panic buy. Personally I don't think Fellaini is that bad. There have been times (and will be times again) that his his physical presence was very useful.

RE Nani. Its so frustrating. The man is absolutely laden with talent, technique, trickery pace and power.....how has he not been better for us? One thing about him is that he is for sure a luxury player but on the other side of that coin, a game changer, a match winner.

Nani is the most talented player we have, i will always believe he was held back by Fergie and never recovered after getting a bollacking for "showboating" against Arsenal.

I'd be inclined to agree. Nani is a flamboyant player, with a bit of an ego, who needs to be pampered and feel wanted....I think he could have been amazing for us if allowed to be his own man. Then again, maybe it was his own attitude that held him back. Players like Ronaldo and Cantona seemed to flourish under SAF's guidance. I guess it just didn't work the same way for Nani. Either he needed to be a bit tougher or SAF a bit more lenient....the truth is probably somewhere in between.

Manchester United's long pursuit of Luke Shaw may have finally come to an end after two club fanzines report that a long awaited deal has been agreed with Southampton.

'Red Issue' and 'United We Stand', both prominent fan publications, have printed similar stories that the deal would see a move for Shaw completed before the World Cup. It is reported that Southampton are set to pocket £27m for their highly coveted teenage full-back and, despite his tender years, Shaw will earn £85,000-per-week from the move.
