5-1 down now. That's the difference between us and so many other teams in the bottom half of the table; none of the so-called "Big Clubs" have ****ed us over.
Bloody hell was 3-1 when I just popped on here a few mins ago, I was going to post saying "they're ****ed, and my prediction about how many points they'd get starting from our game is looking generous now". Haway mackems! Mint!
That was a massive game for Sunderland tonight. Even with games in hand they looked in big trouble, so needed to show some grit and fight against Spurs. Even a draw might have kept them ticking over slightly. 5-1 is the sign of a team that has had enough.
Like many of the teams around the bottom who aren't us, they don't half concede some **** goals. I remember around the turn of the year a few people seemed to think they'd turn it around and I couldn't understand why, I feel vindicated now (though I didn't post anything so bold as Happy's predictions).
Looked like Sunderland totally gave up in the last 20 minutes. Most of their defence was just standing off the ball and not bothering to go in for the tacklel. Pathetic performance. Spurs could have had 10. I really feel sorry for the Mackem supporters who made the trip down. Poyet will be gone before Sherwood.
I genuinely wasn't being provocative when I did them either, I just went through each game and decided who I thought would win, forgetting each game as I did the next, was only at the end when I realised where I'd put Sunderland. Even with 2 games in hand they're in the bottom 3, and I honestly think, like Cardiff, they're shot now. That 3rd spot will be the interesting one, and now I can see Fulham pulling off another great escape with Norwich going down. Funny game sometimes isn't it?
A lot of the teams at the bottom have been totally bummed at times this season. We haven't really, bar one reasonable slap around by Southampton, and a self-inflicted boob against Newcastle. Our resilience has got us a long way, and the added threat of a genuinely Premier League front 2 has seen us over the line pretty comfortably in the end.
Sunlan played some crisp stuff in midfield but upfront and at the back they looked woeful. From Poyet's face, it looked like tonight has knocked the fight out of him.
Steve Claridge, BBC Radio 5 live, White Hart Lane Tottenham 5-1 Sunderland "Awful defending that sums up Sunderland's night, Vergini just goes down play acting and it sums up their performance and their night. It's as though most of the Sunderland team have decided they're going down already. They're not even close to competing, if there is something you could take from the game you could make a case for them staying up but there is nothing there whatsoever." http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/26928790 Oh dear.
Definitely down. They had a chance for 2-0 in the first-half, and had that gone in it would have changed everything. After the raping that mediocre Spurs dished out in the second-half, Sun'lun are certainly off to Donny and Bournemouth next season.
Not sure why people think Fulham will survive.. They've been poor all season and just because they suddenly won a game, people think they'll win 3 of their last 5 games... they're going down with Cardiff & Sunderland..
Our worst results being a couple of 4-1 defeats really is a big achievement for a newly promoted club. Most teams of our size in this league lose 4, 5, 6 or even 7 nil at some point in a PL season where they play really top sides 10 times per season.
And good riddance - we might have plastics, but at least they're not plastics who do their weekly shop at Fortnum and Mason
Anyone that watched it know that 5-1 didn't reflect the game. Spurs were **** and Sunderland didn't deserve to lose in that manner.
