As an aside where is Levy tonight? They said he wasn't in he usual seat. Has Sherwood cut his throat or has Uncle Joe had him liquidated?
That wall was nowhere near 10 yards back. Mason just watched them walk forward and ignored it. Awful refereeing from him so far.
Well, we were bad but they were worse. Wonky as hell and nothing in the middle of the park defensively, but we've created enough chances to be well ahead. With the wet conditions and a few cards being dealt out, we may well see a red in the second half, so we need to make sure that it's not one of our players that gets it. Lennon should run Alonso, as he looks very close to making that mistake.
Sunderland show very little to be worried about as long as you keep out of the way of Cattermole. Has all the atmosphere of a practice match.
I quite enjoyed our football in that half. I like seeing lots of interchanging and movement in attack and the chances are coming but it's just not falling quite right for us at the moment. Defensively all over the place at times but that's par for the course with us these days. Looking forward to the second half, Poyet knows they need a win and even if he's happy with a point he knows he won't get it by sitting back like in the first half. Lennon really needs to be brought into the game more, it's made for him as they can't double up on him with 3 at the back, especially with Paulinho and Chadli taking turns to get into the box too. We just need Adebayor to stay up front a bit more too, the game's not getting stretched enough for it to be worth him coming deep, the more bodies in the box the better. As for Lee Mason, another fat headed baldy that doesn't have a clue what he's doing. The amount of chances he's given Sunderland players to foul is just stupid and he seems to be happy for them to move their wall a few yards closer eachtime too. To be fair, he did help us out giving a non-freekick when Naughton got himself in a mess, he's just a crap ref really.
Naughton has been by far the best of the back four so far... ...because he's managed to avoid being absolutely dreadful. Well, we've had about six near misses and gifted them a comedy goal. We should be winning easily and instead it's 1-1. Kane is remarkable for his ability to get into good positions and then effing it up. He has to have spurned four or five excellent chances. Ade has been superb when not obviously hurt. COYS!
