In cricket the majority of first class umpires are ex-players, but cricket doesn't command the same finance as footballers so as you say players are better of retiring, writing a newspaper column, hosting a radio show and sitting in a Sky studio a day a week for about half a million a year, none of them will want to earn £75k a year and take the abuse they do...

There's a very real chance we could finish outside the top 4 this season. We're banking on Everton dropping points to the likes of Southampton, Manure and City but we also have to win our last 5 games. That is by no means guaranteed. Potentially a disaster if we don't make CL.

 

You'd be more likely to get CL next year by winning the EL than getting top 4. Not wumming you. EL is now a more tasty prospect IMO because of the CL spot
