I'm 39 and have never been married. I have a girlfriend of two years and have had many, many, wonderful experiences with a few girls in my time. I have no kids.

A question for the Married Dads out there, is it better being married with kids?
Or was it better when you were single?

    p.s Can you be honest?

As a serious contributor to the internet, I'll take this one.

I've got a 10 yo daughter, a bastard child if you will, and a 5yo son, concieved in marriage.

They only benefit of being married was to her(wife), cos she had her maiden name and she didn't like going up to the school and the teachers calling her my Surname and her having to correct them.

My daughter loved our wedding day, better than I did anyway. (Stoned out my nut - good times)

Get yourself a couple of kids though, ****ing magic so they are.

And when you're feeling down, you can always take it out on them <ok>

Having kids is brilliant. One of mine is disabled but he's still great. I still miss my old hell-raising days, but I'm generally happier than I was then.

My hair's receding alot though and I'm a right fat **** these days due to all the McDs etc

I have a large extended family (30 cousins) and have been around kids all my life. They say women get `broody' I reckon men do too at a certain age. I'd love a kid of my own - but only if it's guaranteed to be a boy. <ok>

(girls would make me worry too much)

    Zico,

    Get a bloody move on.

You're getting past your sell by date and kids at a late age will be a nightmare. You won't have the energy to keep up with a "Terrible Twos" who will run rings round you.

Does it matter if you're married or not? Don't think so.

I've a son of 29 and a daughter of 27. Great "kids". Couldn't imagine life without them. Get to it son before you get too old and set in your ways.

PS: Biffed the missus years ago. But, hey...that was an added bonus.:1980_boogie_down:

Thinking of selling mine. Wee bas supports Celtic.

    Your kid or your missus?

My missus was "Celtic-Minded" but I soon beat that out of her.

My 2 kids are mad for the Rangers. <ok>

And regarding your missus heading south, get them to the gym as soon as the stitches are oot <ok>

Got two kids and another on the way and would not swap it for anything. I did all my E's, beering it up and shagging to last a lifetime and when I settled it wasn't before time. Not married though and have no plans to. Fathers day yesterday, got my oldest riding his bike without stabilisers for the first time, top drawer. Only got a Toblerone though which was a bit **** to be honest, not nearly as good as the Ray Bans I got for my first ever fathers day!

Agree with JJS though, now go McD's too much and am getting a reet fat gut.

    McDonalds is ****e.

My kids eat anything that she puts sown to them, sprouts, carrots, cabbage, all veg bar the odd one.

Tell your missus to stop being a lazy cow and cook FFS!!

My great grannie has 14 kids, an alky husband, no washing machines, no hoovers, no tumble dryers and brought up 14 kids!!

Nowaday woman have all the mod cons and are too lazy to cook a ****in meal for their kids!!! <grr>

    Does my tits in!

When my wife still worked, she used to cook all the meals on a Sunday, then freeze them, just so my wee daughter would eat a balanced diet.

This feels true. Most of the emphasis appears to be on the female's biological clock, but sometimes the desire to have children can feel a bit bloody agony (from the male perspective). I certainly recommend marriage, however, it feels good.
