http://anfieldindex.com/8195/countera-tikitaka-new-liverpool-way.html Interesting article and helps show some of the morphing that has gone about our LFC squad.
it was ok. took a lot from somewhere on dortmund but in short... yes solskjaer saying lfc play counter attack is bull. but its all about pace.... slow sides like utd don't score enough but lfc have two unique forwards, pace and power from sturridge, trickery from suarez. both want to get in behind both like dropping deep. lfc cause chaos by not offering a fat lump for a cb to mark and a no 10 on his own half way line being picked up by midfield. its that simple really. lfc have two outlets that terrorise cbs, force defensive lines deep and have pace too to close down
Ya, that is what we do, lol. Considering you lot have the big lad.... So you hanging around here a while or you got a Palace board to get to?
He's pretty quick too tbf! REgardless of what happens, some good feels on the merseyside at the moment. I really hope your lot jump Arsenal. Just want to see the reaction of not just United but Arsenal losing out on the CL and how they react.
Tiki-taka is a derogatory term in my eyes, meaning 'death by football', meaning 'na-na-nah, you can't get the ball', meaning 'circles upon circles'. I don't wish LFC to be associated with it. I rather term our style of play 'zippy-zappy'.
It's a long time since I've seen Goodison as excited as that yesterday, one of the best performances of recent years for us that, especially given the pressure of it being a 'must win'. I'd love to see it too, but I think Arsenal will probably just about hang on to 4th, as our run in is much more challenging, but we've still got a glimmer of a chance.
I agree, as technically sound as it is, some of Barca's football and now Bayern's under Pep, could put a glass eye to sleep. Possession without fast paced penetration is little more than pretty triangles that belong on the training ground.
Maybe challenging, but you know teams might be smelling blood with Arsenal. We will see. If they think it is hard now buying players, wait until they are out of the CL! Martinez did show some good tactics, fair play to him. Could have used you on the retribution thread as we repented for our past sins....... think you said Martinez was going to be a donkey.
Everton's style of play yesterday in that 433 was very close to ours. I would love for visionary young managers like Brendan and Martinez (whom I have heard you don't rate) bolster this sytem to the extent of making it a world-beater, akin to Guardiola's work at Barca, but in a more exciting style.
I did indeed, I wasn't having him. More fool me, as he's barely put a foot wrong so far, happy to be proved wrong though mate.
Think many of us are similar with Rodgers, with Suarez, with (gulp) Skrtel, etc. The one thing I have gripe with on this article is the name stuff. Tiki-taka, Countera, I know it is sweet to have these catchy names but I think we have a real nice balance now of being able to keep it nice and tight, short, and quick. Or in the blink of an eye launch a ball 60 yards on a dime to one of our forwards. Leaving three players up on a corner, just waiting for the mistake to pounce on. It is exciting stuff. As long as get CL, it will be interesting ( if money is truly invested into the squad) who we start to go for to improve the team even more.
i think you should just enjoy, while its built on loans martinez still has made the football 1000 better. believe in your side, arsenal have gone mentally and its in your hands.. you are better than utd but yes city are a big challenge. i think you'll take 4th, i've love it if you put arsenal on thier heels
i agree and think bayern have gone backwards this year... last year they've have put 10 past arsenal and frankly utd would be 4 down now with an awful hiding in prospect... i expect 70% possession from bayern and at best a 1-0
well everyone loves a nice name to sum up things like regista for gerrard or Trequartista for a silva say.... but its far too simplistic to just stick a tag on these things as there's as many variations and differences in how bayern and barca play for example s there are similarities... surely its more a question of overall coaching philosophy meeting available playing resources if we play diamond to enable two up then someone is advanced playmaker and someone is regista... but it only takes a quick reshuffle to get to 4-3-3 as coutinho proved v spurs as a midfielder and as rodgers proved in a different way v west ham...
Our highest scorer is Suarez, who, whilst can accelerate pretty quickly, isn't the fastest player in the league by any stretch of the imagination. His pace is pretty ordinary. What he has is skill and trickery... and amazing imagination and creativity.
don't tell him that! f sake now our secret is out... that and him pushing defenders over and having bribed officials not to flag.. until you opened your mouth everyone thought suarez was "quick" now if they think he's skillful arseanal are sure to bid...
People who think Tika-Taka is just passing are complete morons. Watch Barca under Pep to see TRUE tika taka football at it's finest.
Yeah, I know what you mean. I'd hate to be as slow as Lukaku or Mirralles... Suarez is like ****ing lightning too
