If Bernie Eccleston was to stage an F1 result on the 900th race at the 10th Bahrain grand prix the 1st time its held at night, with the story back drop of the series being said as boring and the track being said as boring then this is how the story would go... also 900 + 10 + 1 = 911! (<-- im more spooked than bottas about this) also it sounds weird its the 900th race and button has raced 250 of them?
So Bahrain and Bernie are the real culprits to bring down the twin towers (9/11) and not the lizard men like the conspiracy theorists first thought?
I can't imagine how much hypocrisy is going to happen this year. Hamilton has to win the championship this year after he's been crying so much over Vettel's cars, it's like he's got the advantage of all four in one year. 3 seconds a lap faster than anything else and that's on the prime tyre, it's ridiculous.
It's a shame people complained about Vettel winning all the time, but yesterday proved F1 can be damn well exciting anyhow. This is shaping up to be the rivalry of a decade. Nico Rosberg left this race with the demeanour "oh is that how it's going to be", and I think everybody can predict blondie is not going to forget some moves Hamilton pulled yesterday (they weren't illegal). This is going to be amazing.
lol at the Autosport forums, the general consensus is already that Mercedes advantage is brilliant and that most hope it lasts for years. Possibly the most shameless "support" i've ever seen in a sport, Lewis has so many fanboys compared to all the other drivers it's mind boggling!
I agree that the moves weren't illegal but with moves like that getting penalties in previous races you would think the stewards need to be consistent. Or is that allowed from now? Hopefully it's the latter.
What I'm wanting to know is why Hamilton wasn't given a drive-through for his blatant crowding of Rosberg, it was ten times worse than Vettel on Alonso at Monza, yet apparently it is now called 'great defensive driving' bullshit, it's cheating, they decidd that a couple of seasons ago, and he repeated the illegal crowding move every lap. Personanlly I found the way he drove, the way he talked to his team, showed what a bit of gutter trash he is.
There are two differences between the Vettel domination and now. The first is, the Merc domination is only 3 races old. There is a big gap, but Red Bull certainly threaten to catch up, and others can narrow the gap too. The disparity in performance is as a result of the rule changes and Mercedes doing the best job in adapting to them. It is temporary. In the days of Red Bull dominance, the superiority was under a mature set of rules which suited the philosophy of the Red Bull. Secondly, the difference is the dominant car has two drivers in it who are capable of winning races and the title. So even if the car remains dominant, whoever will be WDC is still going to have to fight their way to it over the whole season.
Under the rules brought in many years ago, Hamilton had the racing line and is entitled to crowd out Rosberg. Don't like it, blame Schuey as he was the one who started all this over 10 years ago which forced the clarification in the rules to say that this kind of driving is okay. Personally, I hate it and beleive the moves aren't fair as if someone is alongside going into a corner they are entitled to hold their line around the outside, but we've seen it time after time when drivers do it and they all get away with it. Manny, for the record at Monza 2011, Schumacher was not penalised but warned over the radio about what is allowed, but that was to do with more than one move as opposed to crowding out http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/formula1/14872901
Crowding out is more dangerous than more than one move, atleast with the more than one move the second driver has room on the track. It's a shame how Hamilton is now allowed to do it, and the fans love it. I enjoyed it I am not going to lie. But in 2011 the same fans of yesterdays driving were talking in a much different tone.
Memories are a distant thing and are often exaggerated and those who are complaining now were also defending back then and vice-versa. To a point I'm sure we've all been hypocrits somewhere along the way! As said, I hate the whole 'he who has the racing line can shove the other off' rule. Am sure when Rosberg pays him back for it (which I have no doubt he will) , all those who are shouting for a penalty against Hamilton will turn the other cheek and congratulate Rosberg for great defensive driving.
Schumachers move was illegal, and this was illegal, Vettel got done for doing it at Monza, but left much more room.
Vettel's was very contentious. I think that had more to do with the fact he did it to a Ferrari at Monza than anything else.
i like how you say it's too early to call their car dominant, but then imply their drivers will be battling all season long. It won't happen. Also no team will come close to narrowing a 3 second a lap gap...for years. I wouldn't be surprised if Red Bull and Ferrari pull out because of the engine situation, every race is embarrassing for them now, and i don't think fans are helping the situation by ridiculing them for not being happy.
Just a shame the stewards are so inconsistent, but to be honest I wouldn't want to see Lewis penalised anyhow. The racing was amazing, and that is how racing should be. Whether Nico will repay the favour, depends on him. He was testing the water during that race, and knows now that Hamilton is not going to give him any favours. Nico also said that he will be back in two weeks to take the win, so things are about to hit the fan.
Also to be honest I don't think I have seen a race where the teams have been two by two that perfectly.
Can anyone clarify if Vettel had a problem this time, or was he on slower tyres compared to Ricciardo?
