I'm just saying any talk of Wenger's salary is just newspaper talk.In all honesty none of us knows for certain what he really earns.
It's extremely well reported that Wenger is on in excess of 7m a year. Newspaper talk or not, it's as close to truth as we're going to find. He's also widely reported to be the highest paid manager in the PL, something else I'm fully prepared to believe. The 26 years thing is completely irrelevant, as is all talk of things that have happened in the past. We're not talking about the past and what has happened many seasons ago, we're talking about where the club are now and where they're going in the future. And the future is not Arsene Wenger.
Man Utd went 26 years without winning anything once. 8 years is difficult to take, but in the bigger picture it's not a disaster if we can put it right in the next couple of seasons.
If a Man Utd fan wants to come on here talking about our trophy drought then I feel justified reminding them about their's. On the subject of Wenger's salary,I reiterate that none of us know for certain what he earns
We are in a damn fine position if you ask me. Any new and talented manager, like Martinez, would love it here. If Wenger of yesteryear took over then we would be back to our best. Unfortunately the current Wenger is past his best.
I think people are starting to get carried away with how good Martinez really is.Personally I think he's got a lot to prove yet
The tactical awareness to realise that Vermaelen & Monreal would leave Arsenal's left side exposed and so deploying the pacey and powerful Lukaku out of position wide right to exploit this to brutal effect was brilliant from Martinez.
Everyone had to start off but he is already showing signs of brilliance. To out tactic a veteran great like Wenger is impressive.
You seem to be a little annoyed at people giving Martinez credit. This is the way things are, you will always have up and coming managers, replacing the old guard. As much as you like Wenger, even he has to come to an end. Do you really think that he hasn't lost that edge? He isn't as good as he once was? He is struggling?
I'm not annoyed at people giving Martinez credit, I just think people are getting carried away with him If Wenger had retired last year would you have wanted Martinez to replace him ?
Nope not at all. But he's made me eat my words, the man is doing a great job. The only question mark left over him for me, is can he manage to unearth the gems that Moyes did in the transfer market, as that was Moyes forte. As for Wigan, they had bugger all resources and continually sold their best players and spent next to nothing replacing them, their wage bill was also the smallest in the division. They were always on borrowed time
He had a negative net spend at Wigan and the smallest wage bill in the league, so what money was this like?
