You could look at it differently and think that him leaving the garage like that might give them push they need because they need something to spur them on. From the outside looking in, I think the pressure of not winning any championship since 2008 is getting to them. They're not creating competitive cars and they have a passionate fan base who demand success. They just seem lost year after year.

I hear ya... But I'm not sure it would motivate me personally or make me feel that my efforts were appreciated. I'd me much happier to see my leadership taking the hard times along with the rest of the team. You can't just be there for the glory, you have to stand with your team through the pain too. Also, as the top dog at Ferrari, he has his part to play in the whole downturn, not just the peons.

I'm not Ferrari bashing, though it may seem it... I'm actually wanting them to produce.

3 races in then, China to come before we hit Europe.

Mercedes by the end of the Chinese GP should have won all 4 races.

There is a lot of talk about 'rapid pace of development' this season, but we saw just what sort of a gap we are looking at when they stretched their legs after the safety car. 2-3 seconds a lap. <Yikes>

In all seriousness, is anyone expecting to see another team actually take a Championship fight to them or is it just too much given the engine freeze?

I am worried that nothing will get close.

On the Awards thread someone raised that Ide was stripped of his superlicense for doing less than Maldo has. Does anyone think this is due to nearly the whole Lotus set-up being dependent on his sponsors? Ban Maldo and that money presumably dries up overnight, and the Lotus team folds shortly after. F1 probably can't afford to lose another team, so are stewards being told to look the other way somewhat in order to keep Lotus going?

I think Red Bull could be the only hope of closing the gap... If anyone can do it, it's them. It may take hitting Europe to really start closing the gap, by which time it may be way too late.

Mercedes have a massive advantage tough... so any catch-up will have to be beyond any development that Merc have to come. I would expect the Red Bull to have more development potential than the Merc, but who knows for sure? In reality... it could be next season before we see things balance out.

They could at least give him a "Cool off" race ban like they did Grosjean.... It's a sorry state of affairs if we value his state funding over driver safety, that's for sure.

That's true. He's got a similar reputation to Grosjean did when he received the ban, and there wasn't a lot between the incidents today. Completely Maldo's fault.

Rosberg with DRS was 20 kph faster than Hamilton lol. Basically Mercedes power fast, renault so so, ferrari... slow.

Can taste the tears of Mr Santander on his left and Mr Ferrari on his right when Luca left.

Lewis seemed to carry more speed throught the final section so could get a decent 0.7/0.8 gap before they hit the DRS zone which was just enough for Rosberg to catch him but not really get fully alongside before the braking zone.

Rosberg will be kicking himself that he lost this race at the first corner as I don't think Lewis would have stood a chance if Rosberg had got away cleanly.

Admittedly I was a bit upset that they put Rosberg on the prime after the end of the first stint being so full of action while giving Lewis a chance to create a gap with the option + undercut. Would of given it a 10/10 if they allowed Rosberg to have the same strategy as Lewis and kept the fight going. Plus the prime tyre wasn't that bad during the race so it wasn't like he was massively at a disadvantage past the first couple of laps when the option had the major edge.

I don't think Lewis would of held Nico back the whole GP if they stayed on the same strategy, just unlucky the safety car came out but he made it work for those 7 laps.

    Nico Rosberg :-

Anyone still think there were team orders or Mercedes deliberately screwed over Rosberg to let Hamilton win?
