From The Daily Telegraph: Spurs consider using more than one ground for home matches while White Hart Lane is redeveloped with Wembley, the Olympic Stadium and Stadiummk under consideration. Tottenham Hotspur are considering using more than one venue as their home for the 2016-17 season, with Stadiummk in Milton Keynes understood to be one of the more radical options alongside Wembley and the Olympic Stadium. Spurs would like to stay at White Hart Lane while a new 56,000-seat stadium is being built ahead of the 2017-18 season but other alternatives will also come under consideration. Any solution must gain the approval of the Premier League board, meaning Spurs would have to ensure any temporary home met a series of standards and guidelines. For example, every ground must have the capacity to meet certain broadcast requirements and a range of minimum standards for fans. These guidelines would seriously restrict the possibility of Spurs launching a tour of stadiums in and around London and the needs of supporters would be uppermost in the minds of the Premier League. Fulham, for example, had to convince the Premier League board of the viability of their plans before they played temporarily at Loftus Road between 2002 and 2004. It could be feasible, though, for Spurs to rotate between a small number of stadiums that meet with the Premier Leagueâs approval. Playing more than 50 miles away from their usual home in Milton Keynes would clearly be controversial but there is a theory that they could play higher-profile matches at Wembley or the Olympic Stadium and matches with a lower ticket demand at Stadiummk. The capacity of Stadiummk will be increased to 32,000 in time for next yearâs Rugby Union World Cup. Playing at the Olympic Stadium would also be contentious following the bitter battle with West Ham over becoming âanchor tenantsâ after the London Olympics of 2012. To play in Stratford, Spurs would need to enter negotiations with West Ham United and the London Legacy Development Corporation. The stadium has been rented to West Ham from the 2016-17 campaign, with the paying a £2 million annual rent. Any agreement to use Wembley Stadium would involve talks with the Football Association. Tottenham also still need to be granted a Compulsory Purchase Order by Eric Pickles, Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government, in order to move forward on their new stadium project at White Hart Lane that is estimated to cost £400 million. If the club are granted the CPO, they anticipate going out to tender for construction later this year. A decision on whether they would have to move from White Hart Lane in 2016-17 would then be taken further along the process. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/fo...y-home-games-in-Milton-Keynes-in-2016-17.html
No quotes and I highly doubt this is true. It's an insane idea really. More likely we're looking at multiple options to host our home games for a season rather than looking at the option of multiple stadia to host our home games.
My exact thoughts when I read the story in the Standard yesterday. Milton Keynes? We're more likely to ground share at the Emirates than play home games there! Also, isn't the plan to play games at WHL while the new stadium is being built around it, so from above it looks like WHL is being consumed by Pac Man?
that's what I thought...they were gonna build 3 sides of the new ground next to WHL ... then demolish WHL and finish the 4th side while fans watch the games from the 3 stands (which would hold 36,000) until the fourth was finished. the final bit would be a bit like when they built the west stand in the early 80s and we played with only 3 stands
That's always been true since the start of this process. All of us, expect the Telegraph, saw the designs. Nothing has changed. Crappy journalism again. I bet the question was "Have THFC considered playing their home games at another ground?" and the answer was "Yes. We considered it briefly before dismissing it" and Jeremy Wilson (probable Gooner) went with the first word he heard. EDIT He's a gooner. Most of his stories are about Arsenal and most of them paint Arsenal in a good light. http://journalisted.com/jeremy-wilson
Same here. Although I think the Telegraph is spouting ****, IF the rumours are true and Spurs play away in the 16/17 season then I can predict ticket sales will be at an all time low. Milton Keynes? Have a laugh. Wembley can be a nightmare to get too and as for playing in Stratford? Yeah great idea if you want Spurs and West Ham fans involved in a knuckle every other week.
