And a brand new back room staff brought in so that there aren't any loyalties etc. Unfortunately that means Curtis would have to leave the first team set up.
On taking over Monk's one trump card was his much touted ability to motivate the players and get the best out of them. Clearly a myth or, as can happen, the players have seen him in action as a coach in practice and on the touch-line during games and in the locker room before / after and at half-time and have been underwhelmed .... the bloom is of the rose. Shouting and waving of arms are not acts of inspiration, but indicators that things are wandering out of control; they are the last acts of the desperate when all else has failed or is not getting through. Not one to be the first to compare to Laudrup .... however, we never had to witness acts of desperation from him.
I watched it live and what made it worse than the West Ham game was that Hull offered nothing in comparison to West Ham, so yes I agree it's up there with the worst I've seen all season, even Monks own comments in his post match interview confirms this!.....
No, he just sat there looking disinterested Tbh, I don't think you could motivate this lot with the threat of a nuclear bomb Yankee.
This would only work Valley if HJ stopped the player power boys from doing an end run around the new manager and sstaff. We have had two very independent and competent coaches in Sousa and Laudrup and both times HJ screwed them over and sabotaged their efforts by letting the players with a 'tude think that they don't have to comply.
Every close up I have seen of Laudrup during a game, he was intently tuned into what was happening on the field. To say he was disinterested is grossly unfair and inaccurate.
I have said from the moment that Laudrup got sacked that Monk was merely a stop gap, and nothing I've seen since has made me change my mind, he has been given the task of getting the players motivated enough in these last games to keep us up, then the players can look out when our board appoint a new manager, hopefully someone with respect for the clubs principles and philosophy!....................
There clearly has been an element of this in the dressing room this season, and I'm sure it will get sorted!...............
I concur. Perhaps this is why ML's agent was trying to set up a deal to move Ash on last Summer - do I remember correctly?
Possible. Either way, I'd like to know what the hell happened in the weeks and months after the COC final.
Me too. There were three things that happened in / around the final: a) we got hammered at Liverpool with Monk / Bartley at the back; b) Ki was played in front of Monk at center back in the final; c) Bartley disappeared. Next season Ki disappears on loan. HJ f**ks up the contract for a recall. Bartley is recalled from Brum and is used by Monk. These are significant events. They cannot be purely coincidental. They have to be connected and have some cause / effect impact on what happened the rest of last season and this season with respect to Laudrup and Monk's take over of the job.
Agree with sbulby on this one, Monk is a joke. I totally disagree with Valley and his attack on the Spanish players, same players got us to our first ever trophy and highest league position. We should be 8 points further up the league and the fact that we arent is down to the joke that is Monk. An extremely poor centre half who couldnt tackle, couldnt head and had no pace, he is a manager with no tactics, poor motivational skills and is extremely naive. Monk has always been one to run to the Chairman to stir the crap. The fault of our league position lies squarely with Monk and our Chairman who has been sucked in to listening to him. The public attack on one of our 'greats' Angel Rangel, to divert attention from his own ineptitude was cynical and obscene. I'd sack him now and put Curt in temporary charge to hopefully secure one more win and our league place
Monk's comment about Rangel, his comment about Bony this past week, and his comment quoted in the Post rag today on Ki ...... indicates to me that Monk is either a moron; or he thinks he has the job for next season and is exhibiting some delusions of grandeur; or he has been told he has not got the job and so doesn't give a **** to mind his mouth. In any event, he appears to be letting his focus wander. The only thing on his mind should be this season and specifically the next game and the next day's work. Commenting about next season means thinking about next season - even if he allows himself that luxury it is not smart to be public about it. This is not counting putting his foot in mouth by demanding an unbeaten run for the rest of the season and then tripping up against one of the weakest opponents left to play in the very first game .... not smart at all.
Where have I attacked the Spanish players? I've criticised Ash and JDG more this season than all of the Spaniards put together
http://www.southwales-eveningpost.c...Swansea-City/story-20920068-detail/story.html Basically he wants to give him a significant role next season blah, blah, blah. Also in the story is the paragraph . Really!?!?! This I find astonishing given the utter mess over the recall. It is not attributed to Monk or any body, but the Post wrote this in the article.
