Ok so **** the football right now, I don't think anyone is feeling particularly good!

So I thought I'd start a discussion about something else.

I'm currently planning an interail trip through Europe in June and would appreciate any suggestions from people of places to visit and things to do within the countries along my route.

I'm sure there is a wealth of experience of different countries within the forum, so any ideas are welcome!

The countries I'm likely to visit are:

    Denmark
    Norway
    Sweden
    Germany
    Poland
    Austria
    Croatia
    Greece

I'll also be passing through Slovakia, Slovenia, Serbia and possibly Bulgaria but not stopping for longer than a couple of hours while waiting on transport changes.

The only country I've been too before on the list is Germany (Berlin). I've been round a lot of Europe and this trip is adding most of the countries that I haven't visited.

So if you've been to any of the countries above and have suggestions on places to go, things to do, things to eat, places to stay etc... then feel free to have some input :)

Be careful there, don't stay at a hostel, or you might end up finding yourself drugged, and waking up in some torture chamber.

Norway is a spectacular country but it is expensive. My friend busked her way to the Arctic circle to see the midnight sun and she did it on a shoe string. She's just had a book published about it. I've been to Tromso, they call it the Paris of the North. Beautiful place.

Have also been to Poland, Czech Republic, Austria and Greece. The best thing about Europe is it's diversity. In terms of music, food and literature, there's nowhere on Earth that sees so many cultural diversities in such a small area.

You'll leave as a boy and return as a man <ok>

if you haven't been there before, the alps are an amazing place in the summer. so either france, switzerland, italy or austria. looking at your list of countires, austria is probably your best bet to go there.

try and go to a mix of places. don't just go to beaches. find the mountains, valleys, open fields, nice villages, castles and stuff that you get all over europe. and then a bit of time at the beach for relaxation.

Nothing wrong with Slovakia. I think it's the fastest growing European economy going. Beautiful country and beautiful women.

We are thinking we will wild camp through Northern Europe, stay in cities in central/Eastern Europe and chill by the beach in Croatia and Greece.

Is that the one on top of the hill with the big church? I went in the middle of summer and the climb up all the steps nearly killed me

Wisla near the Czech border. My father in law has a hotel at the bottom of a ski slope there. It's a great place, more like an Alpine resort without the Alpine prices. I ate Wild Boar and drank Schnapps in a log cabin in the mountains after going snowboarding and paid around tenner for the whole lot and that was for two people <ok>

It's a good route through the south of Poland into the Czech republic and onto Slovakia. It will be summer when you go so no skiing, but lovely mountains for walking and camping. Watch out for Bears and Wolves though
